Morena got a reaction from Nolwazi in Kodak OGS5.6 Firmware Update Assitance Needed
I bought my Kodak Inverter OGS5.6 and Kodak Batter FL5.2 and installation was done in July 2022. When the inverter arrived, it stated that it requires a firmware update to be done of which my technician did know how to do and I've never updated the firmware. I called Segen Solar a few times requesting assistance with a technician to help me with the firmware update but all they did was take my number and state that they will share the information to technicians.

Is there anyone who can assist me with updating my the firmware update of my OGS5.6?

Thank you very much. I will be ordering the things that I couldn't find at Herholdts from KD Solar.

LuxPower makes some fantastic kit (few of my family members have them; all really happy), I seriously considered the 5kW model when upgrading my old inverter earlier this year.
They should shake up the market by introducing a model with a CT coil and zero-export functionality, to give SunSynk/Deye some competition in the non-essentials-powered-by-excess-solar space; they'd make a killing.
  4. Thanks
hi @Scorp007 @Morena   bear in mind that the SunSynk grid-tied export function is still very useful  for exporting / pushing excess PV power onto the local non-essential loads like geyser or stove , without actually exporting onto your incoming Eskom supply. That's one of the main reasons the CT coils are placed onto the incoming , so that the SunSynk pushes onto the residential load but stop pushing / exporting when the CT's show export to Eskom.
  5. Thanks
For some the bi-directional works very well. It does not mean you have to feed to the grid.
This is the same reason that people don't want to use string inverters but they have their place without feeding the grid.
  6. Thanks
The SA public are being hoodwinked by installers. The installers push a brand of inverter that suits them, not necessarily what's in the best interest of their clients. The sunsync vs luxpower point above confirms this. It used to be Victron or nothing, now it's sunsync!
Who really needs a bidirectional inverter. Most installs actually limit the feed to grid anyway...

@Morena I have a Kodak at my house running already 2 years, no hassles.

My brother installed a Luxpower SNA5000 and, i must say very nice inverter. It has a very nice app and you can do remote setting, monitoring even remote firmware updates. I would go for the Luxpower. The luxpower also are parallel compatible for later upgrade. But then the Kodal also.

The Luxpower are compatible with most batteries, my brother have a cheaper SVolt battery and even that battery works with full comms etc. Very cool.

As for the sell all and buy Sunsynk... why all you will get extra are possible bidirectional capabilities. If you want to do that then good option. But why spend more money for just another 5kW, unless you go for the 8kW. But i would rather buy more batteries or panels and leave the Luxpower as is. They are really good, my opinion as good as Sunsynk just cheaper. LXP Luxpower are also bidirectional.
BTW whisch model Luxpower is in the new house? SNA or LXP?

AFAIK it is for installers at ARB electrical wholesalers. Best is to get an installer to buy it.
12x425W Trina panels plus the 5kW Sunsynk and 5kWh Sunsynk battery.
  9. Thanks
Keep the Hubble, sell the rest and buy SunSynk with money.

I still feel the same as a week ago 😀

Thank you. The plan is to have a solar solution in our new homw. In the current home I didn't have any challenges with the Kodak products as the battery could last me 24 hours with the fridge, TV, 2 computers and lights (8 rooms in total with 2 light bulbs each) when we had issues. But it does look like a good solar system will require Sunsynk and other batteries. I will definitely let you know if I'm selling the Hubble.

Morena got a reaction from mzezman in Dyness poor quality?
@mzezman thank you very much. I might have just clicked after they were snatched up cause their next availability is 22 July.
