Dyness poor quality?

Featured Replies

I’m busy price checking batteries an it seems that the dyness battery is far cheaper than the rest of the batteries in a certain range. I’ve seen quite a lot of people using dyness but why are they much cheaper? Are they poor in quality or just full of problems. I would be using 2-300ah on an 8kw sunsynk.

I am told they Dyness is a partnership breakup some time back from Pylontech , A friend of mine was going to go with Pylontech asked me my thoughts, I then told him the 10 year warranty is not worth the paper its written on and gave him my story that took place this week, he wanted 6 x US3000C but has now changed his order to 3 X 5.1kW Dyness they should be up and running early next week, So cannot comment I have not used them, Another old friend of mine wanted 12 X US3000C  large property two houses and small business, he has cancelled the Pylontech's and now looking at 4 X 9.6 kW Dyness but has not placed the order yet.

So that's only about R 342,000 that is not going Pylontech's way, nothing to them,  but if that's how they honor warranties that's what they get mate.

I have Dyness batteries and they seem to be doing fine. The build quality looks good (from what I can see on the outside) and I have had no problems at all using them with my Sunsynk. Although I have a recent installation, so I cannot say much about their long term performance yet.

The Dyness support team is also very quick to respond. I asked them some technical questions about their RS232 protocol and they sent me the documentation with details and monitoring software.

They are decent batteries and come with a number of models to choose from. Note though that most of them are 0.5c vs say the 1c of the Hubbles. Support is good and responsive and they pair nicely with most major inverters

Will you be so kind as to share the monitoring software and RS232 protocols?  Maybe the contact details for the Dyness support in SA. Thanks

@CobusK Sure, here you go: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hSka8UvoSMR2WizIR3u58ZHuIAa3Q9Xh/view?usp=sharing

What they sent me was the monitor software and manuals. From there I used ILSpy to get a look at their code and get an idea of how they interpret the RS232 / CAN messages. Looks like "MYCanProtocol/MYBMSCanProtocol.cs" is the file with most of the protocol decoding info. The compiled software is in the "3 Dyness monitor 220331" folder.

I am not sure if they have a specific SA support branch. I just contacted [email protected] with my questions and got a response from Lane Liu ([email protected]) at their R&D center.

So Pylontech do not honour their warranties?

@Powerforum Store You guys sell Pylontech, what is the situation with regards to warranty?  I need to get something for my parents but I don't personally trust Hubble and now it seems like Pylontech is also out?

Well put it this way it's been a struggle, and unpleasant, but after Pylontech taking a good look at the situation, they are indicating that they will honor the warranty.  I will let you know as soon as its done. could be a day or more

@mzezman thank you very much. I might have just clicked after they were snatched up cause their next availability is 22 July.

Yeah unfortunately stock is hectic at the moment - Are you looking for the 4.8kwh one or a larger capacity?

@mzezman4.8 or 5.12 kWh is what I'm looking for. Stock indeed is very scarce. I have bought a Kodak inverter Off-Grid Inverter OGS5.6 5.6kW 48V

From what I get from the Hubble thread, it is a struggle there too.  So I don't think any battery manufacturer at this point is struggle free.  Maybe Tesla or really premium brand.

You can give these guys a try: https://gwstore.co.za/shop/

I have purchased a Kodak inverter from them recently so they do exist.

Edit: sorry they also seem to be out of stock, I didn't check the individual battery pages
