Neo reacted to pilotfish in My electricity usage analyseddayYou should use your geyser water to cool the server cpu - never have to run your geyser element ever again!

Neo got a reaction from Clint in Water filteringWe use borehole water in JNB. Had it test, had a couple of Coliform colonies so to be sure use a 5micron sedimet, GAC carbon Block and then finally a RIO2000 ceramic filter- use the water throughout the house- I prefer mechanical to electric so UV was out what with the need to replace the bulb annually etc.
The biggest issue with ground water for washing is staining from metals etc. may need to filter for that.

Neo reacted to Coulomb in Urgent Help: City of CT Cutting Off AxpertsI don't live in South Africa, and have not read the whole thread. But I agree with those that say that it's ridiculous to not allow Axperts because they might exceed the total generating capacity of the network.
The utility connection is marked "Line input" (or similar). The inverter/charger is designed never to push power into the utility connection. No-one has ever observed power being generated by an Axpert, going to the utility. What more needs to be said? They don't have a certificate for grid connection because they don't need one. Look around the world; does any other jurisdiction require a certificate? No.
Good luck with this issue guys. We really don't need artificial restrictions on devices that are good for humanity.

Neo reacted to SilverNodashi in Parallel 5MKS and 5KS - any reason not to?I would concur.
the solar charger, whether MPPT or PWM is connected directly to the batteries via the DC bus. Chances are, they have some different calculations on the voltages and ampere so if you do manage to get this to work, the one will probably under charge the whole time, or not charge at all. OR, worst case, blow something up.

Neo reacted to Coulomb in Parallel 5MKS and 5KS - any reason not to?The firmware has to be the same version number exactly on all paralleled machines, and I don't think that this is possible wirh an MPPT and a PWM model.
So: probably not.

Neo reacted to Chris-R in Imeon 9.12 3-phase installation2 years ago I wanted to install a solar system, paid the deposit and waited for the guys to arrive on site. 2 weeks later and many promises further, I was still waiting in vein. I decided to start getting to grips with solar, as I did not even know how it was working! I new the sun would be used to generate power. I cancelled the order and started the fight to get the deposit back and to start to get knowledge about solar.
Today 2 years and about 6 weeks, I started the system up and it is working 100% ( so far )
I did everything myself and with the advice of many of our forum members. I do not want to name specific guys, but hell, the forum is great and yes there is really a lot of guys on the forum that knows a lot !!! Thanks to everyone for his/her contribution to my successful installation.
Attached hereto a few pictures of the installation and yes guys your criticism will be highly appreciated. Remember nobody and nothing is ever perfect !!.

Neo reacted to Gerald_db in i3 Rex bought. Some user info on this incredible car.
First there are no fast DC chargers in KZN only the type 2 charger that can do 80% in around 3 hours.
The cars gps only shows one at BM in the Bellaire area. The one at SMG BMW Umhlanga opposite Gateway does not show.
There are 2 chargers coming to Gateway "soon".
Last Sunday did a Durban return from home in Eshowe. Travelled at 115kph in EcoPro mode with aircon running. Was raining a bit and needed wipers. Daytime running lights on the whole trip. Got to La Lucia mall having driven 130km and still 70km range showing. Lot of downhil initially from Eshowe helped.
Next stop was charger at SMG Umhlanga where we arrived with 28% charge.
Spent 1.5 hours shopping at Gateway and got back to the car with it at about 65%. I had set a pre-condition departure time as it was a very hot day so the car was cooled to 22°C waiting for us. It does this while on mains and saves batteries.
Two more stops in Durban and a lunch stop Umhlali area. Got into Eshowe on 5% battery after using the Rex for about 30km. Needed 3l petrol to fill. Aircon the whole way as was over 30°C day.
Overall I was seriously impressed. If BM had a fast DC charger or had spent a bit longer charging we would have not needed the rex.
Edit:- Total round trip of 285km and 3l petrol used. I charge for free from my business solar system.

Neo got a reaction from ___ in Panel EarthingLocally supply on the range is +-R2k to R8k depending on model and then one can array them too for larger installs. I see you can also get used options on ebay.

Neo reacted to ___ in Panel EarthingWhooaa, it's a MOV in a metal can! That's kinda awesome :-)
I'd think there should be ample research material on using MOVs for lightening. Quick google says it's the best all-round suppressor.
