  1. howzit. very interesting. damn shame my inverter does not have a wifi module... only reading mine on RS232 and watchpower at the moment 😞 hopefully they will integrate this with it in the future... or I just need to get Solar Assistant
  2. Howzit. No ended up going with a company called TechSun Solar. They also had pretty good prices on Solar Panels. It seems greencointech is a one man show and I had a chat to the guy, seems friendly. but haven't found anyone that bought from them yet.

  5. Hi @Coulomb. sorry for the late reply attached is the CPU version
  6. Hi Guys and Gals... I need some advice.. My current inverter : RCT Axpert VM2 2.5kva Batteries : Champion 12.8V 100ah ( 2x in series for 24v) Attached is the data sheet for the Champion batteries and I also attached my inverter's current settings. my question is regarding the floating charge. what would you recommend? The settings on watchpower is very limited and also on the inverter side. I only have a "user" setting which for most is the lithium setting. I need to know does this "hurt" my batteries is any way to keep them at 28v float charge. also by changing the "back to discharge voltage" it changes the % on the battery status. any advice on the current settings would be appreciated thanks
  7. Hey Folks. quick one for any electrician...and or someone who might know... I want to monitor my incoming AC from Eskom. I have my inverter but its not connected to my grid. So what I want to do is separately measure and monitor my incoming usage from eskom with a device. I can get an electrician to hook it up to my DB bord. Any Ideas ?
  8. Howzit. a little off topic but do you import these batteries? ad if so are you in the business of doing this long term? Reason I ask is that sooner or later I want to get these type of cells for a DIY project and looking for a seller Cheers
  9. Thanks for all that shared info on these types of build! This is something I also want to try because of the Cost per W you get out of it. Mine will be a 24v system for now. I am sure to contact again on this post once I get started... Thanks Guys!

  11. Thanks @Scorp007 Yeah thats my thoughts as well. I do see you can order them from Alibaba and/or even source them local which works out cheaper than the standard battery you buy. For example, pylontech 24v 120ah gives you 2.84kwh for about R18k. If I worked it out correctly, and roughly, buying 8x 3,2V 280ah cells with a BMS would be about R25k. it a little bit more but that would give you about 6.7Kwh... which is so much more! Please help me understand and how you guys would approach it, would it be a better idea and do we actually have guys re-selling cells in SA?
  12. Hey Guys and Gals. So I'm looking at a DIY project sooner or later and came across videos about buying 3,2V 280ah batteries and make your own. seems to be cheaper depends on where you buy. Has anyone on this forum actually build them and using them? Is it actually cheaper to do then just buying the battery from a supplier?
  13. Howzit. At this point in time its sort of working... I tried another Mecer brand usb-to-serial which has the chipset of PL2303GT Other PL2303 chipsets, even the CH version, my comms lasts for not more than a minute then it loses connection. I read about the home assistant and with Solar-Assistant and it seems there is a lot going into it to set up, but only with certain models as well. Yeah the difference between the Premium and other one is that I have a 100amp MPPT charger and not the 80amp charger...go figure LOL Let me know how it goes if you can get mecer brand USB-to_serial. I used the same cable that came with the inverter from RJ45 to serial.
  14. Yeah that was my first worry as well. I checked out SIW as well and they also do have the same wattage per R for the Jinko's as what greencoin has. but yeah a bot more investigation is needed
  15. Hi Guys and Gals. Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes. Has anyone dealt with the following company : greencointec.com they are based in Garsfontein, Pretoria, South Africa and has a warehouse (somewhere) they are selling Jinko 475w for R2299. and as we all know that is very very cheap compared to all other companies. did anyone heard of them or dealt with them. I know these days you have to be careful of getting knockoff solar panels. Cheers
  16. Good Day Folks. Where can one get firmware for the RCT Axpert VM2 Premium Inverters? Is there any folks on here that recently bought and updated and wouldn't mind advising? Thanks
  17. Hi @Coulomb Yes it came with a CD. Standard watchpower software for windows. version 1.61 I think. They recommend to download the ViewPower from the www.power-software-download.com site so not sure 🙂 I did manage to get it working though...I changed the baud rate to 2400 ( a post I saw on this forum) and it works...for a small amount of time then disconnects. the only way to get it going again is to disconnect the USB and re-connect then it works again...for a little while. so yeah this is a very strange one.
