Louis, a quick question. In your documentation you refer to a USB FT232R connection to the BMS. I assume it's 3V3 opposed to 5V to the BMS correct? Edit: Fixed wrong wording.

I have two HA-02 Battery Balancers for sale, R500 each. Shipping is for the buyers account. Both are in perfect working condition and came from a working Lead-Acid installation. They are already fused on each battery positive leg, ready for installation. They are similar to the image below.

Just to close this thread. I eventually found this at Roco Fittings in JHB. Not the best but will work great and better than me drilling my own holes in a solid cap.

Probably cost. Finding a DC circuit breaker that can handle that massive amount of current is costly. The choice is yours, all installations I see use fused battery connections.

Looks like I am always looking for the difficult to find stuff. To finish up my controller enclosure I need two small ventilation caps. Does anyone have ideas where I can get something similar? 25mm or 32mm would be perfect. Like what I have here:

My bank also went from an easy 4H30 Load Shedding session when new to a just barely making it with very careful load management after two years - but it still made the 4H30 sessions. I did have balancers which kept the batteries in better shape than would otherwise be. My initial choice was to go the cheaper LA, but still $$$, option until such time that LiFePO4 prices came down a bit and now is a good time for that. I upgraded to LiFePO4 two months ago and very happy. In short, I fear your batteries have had it if it can't deliver on your 4H requirement. Have them checked and tested just for your own peace of mind.

I just did the exact same thing to my 24V garage motor backup just the other day. I replaced the two 12V 2.4AH batteries (similar size to 60mmx80mmx175mm I think) with 8S1P 32700 batteries in a staggered configuration. I bought a cheapie BMS, 20A perhaps, and it seems to work nicely. My next step is to get a BT BMS so I can monitor the cells remotely via my phone but before that I want to do a few Open|Close operations to see how many operations I can get before declaring this a success and leaving it in as a permanent replacement. My old batteries lasted 4 years (with a balancer) and they are still good. The LiFePo4 upgrade was just because I was bored over December 🙂 Before installation one of the cells was slightly low but it took a few hours and they are all in perfect balance now. So, if you like to do small projects like this then go for it, just make sure the charge voltage is enough to balance the cells and not too high to have the BMS cut off the power. Check the datasheet.

Does anybody have a suggestion where I can find M4 x 8mm Hex Bolts? I need 20 only. RS has them on back order but they come in a pack of 100 and are SUPER expensive.

Any recommendations for a 24V/8S LiFePo4 BMS with Temperature compensated charging/cutoff and Bluetooth connectivity? I am building a small 24V pack in the range of around 10A-20A so no large current BMS required, 20A or even 10A discharge is sufficient.

Updated: The big stuff is gone, some small bits left if someone is interested.

Found the problem! A little piece of insulation in my upstream control circuit caused the contacts not to close. Works like a charm now.

Has anyone successfully configured a UFR1001e so that the Enable/Standby contact puts the unit into Standby Mode? I've followed the ZA programming sheet and the uSr setting seems to be default on Standby but when I close the contacts nothing happens. Any suggestions are welcome.

All components came out of a working system and is between one and two years old. 1 x Victron BMV-712 with 500A Shunt and all cables - R2500 1 x 1P Mersen 160A Fuse Holder with 160A Fuse - R500 1 x 2P Mersen 250A Fuse Holder (Still in box) with three 200A fuses - R1000 2 x HA-02's, wired and fused ready for connection - R500 each 2 x Venus GX or Quattro Temperature Sensors - R200 each Assortment of cables: 6 x 650mm 35mm2 Battery Interconnect Cables with M6 connectors - R100 each. 6 x 650mm 70mm2 Battery Interconnect Cables with M6 connectors - R150 each. various other lengths to connect to to batteries and charger, two of which are fused with 150A fuses on poles, see attached images. They are between 1.5m and 3m long. Make me an offer. Lastly: 8 x Deltec CNFJ-150 Lead Crystal batteries, two years old. Started to go off so there might be one or two that is not 100% anymore. I can get R315 per battery as scrap, will sell for R500 each so you could get a bargain or at least get most of your money back if you get more than R7/kg at a scrap dealer like me. (Collection only). Some members got as high as R11 or R14 per Kg but not in my area. I am based in Centurion and prefer collection but can ship via DSV Locker. Shipping cost if for the buyer's account. Ingo
