  1. Can anyone please help me. I’m not sure it’s a software issue. My inverter prioritizes the grid instead of the battery at night. It’s only when I turn the grid supply to the inverter off, then only does it use battery power. How do I change this.
  2. How do I get the new software. I’m still waiting for my WiFi dongle to be delivered. Also the label on the side of the inverter says PV input of 8000w yet the manual says 10000w. Not sure which is correct
  3. Battery at 47% SOC this morning with normal use.
  4. Installation completed today. Thanks to Steve and the team from the Powerforum store for all the help. Phillip Botha from XXX Electrical did my installation. Job well done. If anyone needs his contact details, please contact me.
  5. Thank you. Doing the last bit of the installation today.
  6. Yeah I do have big consumption. Also will see if I could feed back into the grid. I have 3 strings of 8 to keep the voltage higher for better efficiency.
  7. We installed a Klip Lok roof. So the panels are mounted in a landscape orientation without a rail. Much easier and cheaper.
  8. Hi Guys. My new installation. 24 x 390w JA Mono solar panels with an 8kw Sunsynk inverter and 2 x 5kwh Bull Lithium batteries. More pics to follow soon...
  9. Thanks for your help guys
  10. Good day guys. I have an Elster A1100 meter at my home with an analogue display. Does anyone of the tech guys know if this meter allows me to put power back into the grid. Attached is a pic. Thanks
  11. Good day guys. I would like to know if any of you have used the 6kw Sofar inverters and the 5kw Growatt inverters and how do they perform etc. Thanks in advance.
  12. Good evening guys. In our previous home, we had a 300l Suntank geyser which was connected in series with a Paloma 26l gas geyser. The flat panels on the Suntank didn’t work well in winter as the water only heated to 40deg. The controller on the Paloma was set to 46deg so the Paloma only needed to heat the water by 6deg which in turn uses far less gas. When the water in the solar Geyser was at 65deg, I switched the gas geyser off or else it fired up for a short while to heat the cold water in the pipe between the solar Geyser and the gas geyser which in turn wastes gas. I also had a Goodwe 4.6 ES system and when I had spare power during the day, I used that power to run the 3kw element in the solar Geyser just so that it didn’t go to waste. We managed this for 2 years and I only used max 20kwh from Eskom per month and a 48kg cylinder lasted 13 months. The entire home ran on the Goodwe inverter but we were limited to 5kw at any given time on the backup side.
  13. That’s true Jaco. I also noticed that with my system. Also I don’t like that the Goodwe cannot be paralleled. So for next project, I think I’ll just stick with the Victron Quattro 12kw
  14. The Goodwe has an AC Backup side which in the even of a grid failure will be able to power up to 4.6kw of load by blending PV and battery power if PV is insufficient. On this side, when Eskom is online, it can blend all 3 sources depending on load and supply. It also has an AC on grid side where it can push excess power back into the grid which can be zeroed by using a current transformer. But you can also power high load appliances on the on grid side before the CT like geysers etc. On this side, it can blend PV and Eskom power up to a max of 9.2kw. This on grid side will obviously shut down when Eskom is offline. The Goodwe is a true HYBRID and is seamless in the way it works and it’s a plug and play system when paired with the Pylontechs.
  15. Hi Hennie. I had the Goodwe 4.6kw paired with 3 x 2.4kwh Pylontechs and 17 x 330w panels and it never skipped a beat. It ran like clockwork for 2 years till we sold the house. The only downside is the Goodwe cannot be paralleled so we had to manage how many appliances we switched on at any one time. I love the fact that it has no fan so it’s completely silent. I know many guys love Victron because of the quality.
  16. Ok will do. Thanks
  17. Thank you. Can the power from the panels go straight to the load via the inverter?
  18. Is the H8 an 8kw inverter?
  19. Good day guys. I want to design a new solar system for a house we are building. 10 000w of panels 10kw inverter 4 Pylontech. 3000 My confusion is that I am not sure on what inverter to get to give me at least 10kw. The new Sunsynk looks good for an 8kw inverter. Then there are 2 x 5kw Axperts in parallel. Or splitting the DB and have a hybrid on non essential and hybrid on essential which I don’t like. Last is the Victron range but I am not sure how they work. Are they Hybrid units. I currently have a Goodwe 4.6 ES and it works perfectly so I would like something that works like the Goodwe I would appreciate all the advice

    Thank you
  21. Good day guys Just a quick question, can I mix old and new Pylontech batteries. I have 3 which are a year old and I want to add 1 more due to the current load shedding we are having. Thanks
  22. Hi Jaco. Herholdts in Kimberly have them for that price. They deliver countrywide.
  23. Ok thanks. Please let me know
