Another share for Pylon and Dyness batteries, I had the wrong pin outs all is happy now

Looks like I did not follow pin outs properly, its 4,5 to 4,5 but battery side is slightly different. BMS is now up and happy! Hope the below helps someone one day

Having a similar issue with SNA5KW and Pylontech, BMS refuses to come up. On their YouTube channel they show comms to Dyness Don't see anything else

Nice system, well done. @DesDMPthey are not as noisy as the growatts. Would not say very silent but just better to deal with

Very nice setup, what are those LCD displays in the trunking ? Volt meters ?

Not sure about easy but need to read the geyser temps without compromising the safety that a thermostat provides

Yeah at the moment with the 2 additional panels I will have more than enough on tap for those sunny days. My main aim now is to get temp reading from the geyser just so that I have an extra value to determine the geyser final state allowing me to switch it off based on that, but its 2022 and we don't have an off the shelf solution for this...... sigh

Open to options will look into this and associated costs

**Edit** With the new setup I power the 4.4kw geyser from PV during the day takes about 1h15min then I turn on small geyser this is soon going to be fully automated with Node Red. Able to power geyser from batteries during the morning loads and that takes my batts down to 20%. So now based on this its a tough choice between getting a heat pump or adding a third battery. For cloudy/rainy nights its give and take and I will rather just run purely on ESKOM and leave batts fully charged, as there will be no point to power loads from battery on cloudy nights. Adding 2 more 545 watt panels tomorrow as well.

Added Solar assistant on a RPi with USB to RS485 cable to the inverter. Using HA with node Red to turn on geyser when battery is around 98% SOC.... Now I want little bit more with temp readings on the geyser, will be looking at a sonoff probe for this, not to keen on removing the thermostat want to try see if the probe can sit somewhere else

@mikeblackburnhow well does it read ? Also looking at this. A temp sensor is what i need for the geyser now

hi @Iiceman how many KWs does the 7.2kw unit pull ? I was looking at 5kw heatpump (Alliance) from AC direct they told me it uses about 1.3kw per hour which is not bad. So was wondering what the 7.2kw unit is on usage

Hi Guys Finally decided to go Sunsynk, being an installer I became tired of the growatt setup and it's limitations. Out with old and in with the new. Setup: 8kw Sunsynk supplied by and thanks @Leshen 16 X 545 Watt JA Mono panels, split on different side of the house 2 x BSL 7kw Batteries with cabinet. on the first day after install at 7:50am panels on East side were producing around 1100 watts numbers kept growing. As luck would have the past two days had some big clouds 😂 Feeding to non essential load I saw 6200watts from PV I am sure there is more but will see on a good day. BSLs went in today.... I must say this inverter is silent fans kick in when they should

Are these batteries any good or the problems isolated to a few instances ? Seems like they give me problems than total usable capacity ?

@Reena Just recently installed a 8kw sunsynk with 16 x 545watt JA panels, I have a 4kw chugger of a geyser and 2.4kw smaller geyser they both on timers I will cycle them at different times during the day... They both on non essential side of the sunsynk tomorrow will be day two with the new system so need to see how much of PV can feed back to the geysers. But by 9am today I saw around 3000 watts coming from PV charging the battery. I looked at solar conversations but kept had guys telling my 250l geyser is too big for that and I should change the element to a 3kw element, now that is all good for me but my family is used to the geyser heating up in an hour... I can imagine my wife coming at me because it takes 2 hours 😂 Ultimately maybe get a heat pump ? With timers big geyser runs daily 4am to 7am. 4pm to 8pm of course this will change with the new system
