Hi Guys Looking for a decent pool heatpump, so wanted to know from you guys what are you using and how good are they in terms of heating water and efficiency (power rating). We will be doing pool renovations soon, so I want to add a heat pump as well. I do not have anymore roof space for solar panel/tube setup. Thanks

its very difficult to install according to certain standards as some dwellings do pose their own challenges, one would not want want a fire proof enclosure in their lounge. If the inverter comes into a kitchen or living room, all safety standards need to be followed. Breakers, separation of DC and AC cable etc, now a fireproof enclosure is a different story some people just don't have the space, even if they had the space would you put a hideous fireproof enclosure ? The solar PV power system code of practice is currently in draft format.. Not legislated as yet.

100 percent correct sir the lower the voltage the more current the devices will pull. I would suggest in this case one could use a AVS30 before the supply to luxpower on the grid side. We have used a few AVS30s for these cases and it works well. We have had instances where customers grid supply is constantly low, we had to install CVTs to protect the inverter as AVS30 was constantly holding back from supply grid back to inverter.

Any legit sparky with a good knowledge of how a contactor works can do it.

Something has changed with the luxpower units in production. Who knows why they went back to red switches could be a shortage or blue switches ? Last winter they never peaked over 426v, in addition I have constant load on the panels and voltage drops when the inverter is pulling current. I am an installer so don't do what I do. I never go beyond 16 panels for customer installations on a 8kw sunsynk unit (8 per string). However you can bring two strings of the same voltage down to 1 MPPT (in parellel)..... The 8kw can pull down 22amps per MPPT. Current doesn't matter coz the inverter will clip the current, voltage is what matters and its usually what causes MPPTs to blow

To add when we did my home install our Junior sparky decided to bring earth from the ROD that goes to the frame to the DC SPDs and the inverter was throwing faults during lightning after I investigated I had found what he had done and changed it. Slap on a wrist for him. We had to go out and change 2 installs that he was involved in. Lucky he was new in the team needless to say he had to sit through 4 hours of training with the master electrician and was supervised from start to finish for the next 5 installs. 😂

Its very vague, but best to put the frame on its own earth rod, earth wire straight in the ROD. Bring the live and neutral down and put use utility earth for those on your DC SPDs. You need a low resistance path to divert a lightning strike away from the inverter and if and wiring mishaps occur (on the frame). They don't want you to put your positive or negative directly to ground. (Essentially no earth bond for PV)

Hi Kyle Sorry to hear about your issues, perhaps post more detail about the setup, pics of the voltage readings on your strings, inverter type, install pics, pics of panels and pics with QR codes etc. Each panel should have a serial number. When we buy panels for our installations from the official distributors they send us the serial numbers of each panel and we cross check the actual serial number on the tax invoice with what we put up on our customers roof's

Glad you sorted, I wonder when they stopped bonding internally. I have have personally tested this on the earlier models needless to say we have not installed any of the newer units

Hi @oMo786 I have a customer with a 6 month old UP5000 actually only used for 1month in total as he had issues with his luxpower inverter and we removed it and installed a Sunsynk 5kw, he now wants a 5.32kw Sunsynk battery. He is willing to let it go for R24 500 with the cable pack... But Ill first need to confirm if he still wants to do it, but let me know if you keen before I start bugging him

I am not sure if the UPS in the pic is the setting we are looking for and I don't have a unit to test with. But yes it it must be on UPS not appliance, on UPS switching time is 10ms faster Not sure why you guys are having fuses blow on your amplifiers, do you have an Earth Leakage fronting this plugs ? Usually this would be the first thing to trip if something is not right
