  1. Not sure what your version of mid-range is but I would look at the PowerForum Store, they have competitive prices on products and more so on the Solis. https://powerforum-store.co.za/collections/inverters/products/solis-s6-pro-6kw-advanced-hybrid-inverter https://powerforum-store.co.za/collections/inverters/products/solis-s6-pro-5kw-advanced-hybrid-inverter
  2. Anyone know or have information on how to create a voltage charge for the Magneto EVO200-48v206Ah LifePo4 10,4kWh battery? I've done a rough extrapolation in Excel as per attached file but am sure my voltages vs % for: 1. DoD and; 2. SoC... are incorrect. I know on the data sheet it does mention the Discharge Cut-off Voltage, but in order to increase the longevity of the battery ideally would want to never get to the 46.5v, unless battery is nearing End-of-life, hopefully. Would also want to set Battery cut-off relative to DoD % or other parameters such as when it can begin charging from the grid so as to maximise the PV generated, rather than using Voltages. Banking off course, that the BMS will be reporting correctly the %DoD matching the Voltage. If anyone can extrapolate and share an accurate chart to share, I'd be most grateful. Thanks. 3. Best wishes and hopefully insurance "pulls finger quickly" to get your equipment replaced and keep you away from Load Shedding. Also see a test of the MidNite Solar's Surge Protection device.
  4. Humour is life's best medicine in such times! So tell them to "pull themselves towards themselves!" At least some advance warning would help But engage your installer in relation to fuses as well and hear what they say or recommend. These breakers sometimes because they stick, don't always trip or wrong size breakers also don't help.
  5. My experience, as a layman, working is from working alongside a contractor doing my electric fence. Off the top of head, with a test meter the resistance should reduced and make the fence more effective, but in terms of diagnosing the current problem of fault, cannot definitely attest to that. See the pic of the bobbin I spoke of earlier, with time they crack and begin to touch the metal rod, but I believe a more experienced fence contractor would be able diagnose whether this is the issue or your Energizer is the issue. The hope is that its not the Energizer as this can be costly or you may get some underhanded guys claiming the whole unit needs replacing yet mine was repaired, resulting in lower costs.
  6. Same here and also just check if there's also any wires showing rust and check your bobbin pins where the fence is held, sometimes over time these become hardened and if the pole holding up the fence is metalic, its a shlep finding which one is causing a fault.
  7. Sorry @mien about your experience. My two cents is that firstly if lightning is going to want to do it's thing, there's not much really anyone can do. Yes there's mitigations through SPDs of various kinds on both the AC and DC side of a system including the picture of the one I'm putting here and others. From various discussions it seems in-line fuses over and above SPDs on some wiring may also help all this the best we can do. Also don't forget that some lightning strikes through modems/routers and one then wonders where does this rabbit hole of protection end. Hopefully you have insurance for your system which would then cover such losses and unfortunate incidents, which may well be another route having a solar system so that replacements can be done without the sudden huge knock of equipment replacements. Also SOS (Switch-Of-Switches) including an inverter and going "old school" lantern or solar lights should be another option during a storm.
  8. Looking nice. Is the flow on the Grid bi-directional or it's just uni-directional?
  9. Thanks for your response @Powerforum Store, it’s greatly appreciated and am looking forward to a purchase with you, once my issues are sorted with the bank or may fund my purchases from other sources once that is feasible & look forward to your assistance & support.
  10. @Energy-Jason no axe to grind at all with @Powerforum Store. Unfortunately I've had a major problem with FNB bank and up to now they haven't even refunded back my money but just filled with excuses which is greatly frustrating and infuriating. I've now had to engage a solicitor to get to the bottom of their stories, excuses and promises. I'm finding @Powerforum Store a good source for reasonable prices and support and my reputation has since taken a knock which am also NOT HAPPY with. Once all is sorted, am still keen to make a purchase with them. So when I bring up things it's for purposes of suggestions in order to aid improvement, where possible, NOT to paint them in a bad light, as I have not had any bad experience with them at all.
  11. @Sidewinder I hear you about warranty issues being with @Powerforum Store but ideally one always generally wants something reliable in the first place. Not having the battery whilst it's being "looked at" or replaced under warranty is always the worst case scenario as one may be in the dark during load shedding times. Also on @Powerforum Store it doesn't mention the price of the wall mounting or where to get it or if the price is inclusive, though it suggests so. It would be good if @Powerforum Store had a separate section for mentioning ancillary accessories & pricing per each product range @Energy-Jason Interesting nom de plume (Sidewinder), from the "Artful Dodger"
  12. A 5kWh battery may, with my loads possibly give me 10hours after the sun goes down, now if I opt for a 10.4kWh am hoping for double or slightly under or till the sun comes up in the morning meaning by then I'm likely to be at maybe 90-95% DoD... being ambitious though. That said, does anyone have experience with the Magneto EVO200-48v206Ah LifePo4 10,4kWh battery perhaps running it with a Sunsynk 5kW inverter and how it has performed? Am looking at the price and it's quite attractive on @Powerforum Store . Secondly does anyone know who to contact and their experience in relation to battery settings and their after-sales support?
  13. Much appreciated on the analysis. Living in a small space, as I do, am leaning towards Solis & hoping connectivity, locally to get info will be a smooth process if internet is off or bad.
  14. That requirement is one that needs a software development & I should thing engaging the same support team should yield a response, which means they’re willing to develop that battery Percentage viewing option or not depending on general demand as well.
  15. Ouch... clearly an element has quite a HUGE draw which would not be advantageous, more so if you're using your battery bank to heat up the water.
  16. Thanks. My old 24v 3kW system has been reliable since 2014... bit long in the tooth and noisy, but it's to be expected and now am wanting to upgrade to 48v with an initial 1 x BSLB 6.4 KWH 125Amp 51v Lithium Battery. Was hoping for some peace and quiet instead of having to rake up the tv volume when watching the news for instance but if it weren't for issues raised about Sunsynk after-sales support, wouldn't think twice as I have all else ready to run for a 5kW Sunsynk. Just the prospects of an specs of a 6kW Solis do appeal, but then again, they also have to go through teething problems, just as Sunsynk did in the early days and can I be patient with them, not sure yet. I also enjoy tinkering so am not a "set & forget" type of guy having technical background in telecoms, am always curious to make improvements and check that am maximising on PV & saving the battery rather than grid at every moment.
  17. Comparative to your 5kW Sunsynk in a small flat, definitely Solis sounds lovely jubbly. How does your 5kW Sunsynk perform?
  18. Wonder if BSLB 6.4 KWH 125Amp 51v Lithium Battery is part of the compatible battery list?
  19. I know it doesn't have external fans, am worried about reports I've heard about it's noise decibels under load, seeing as I stay in a small flat. The other side of the coin is Solis is the new baby on the block and wanting to impress and hopefully won't go the Sunsynk route on poor after-sales and quick response time. The devil you know vs the angel you've just met, type of difficulty. I also love having a physical interface to just quickly check: Pv yield Battery SoC Load % Though it seems with the Solis I may not necessarily overload the inverter with my current setup, but if I ever add a washing machine and someone runs a kettle and the water pump kicks in, oops
  20. My current inverter allows me to effectively run, during the day only on solar with my 12 x 250w array on a household running everything on essentials except the stove. With tariff increases in my location it means by 10am I effectively manually switch off the grid (this summer time). Am wondering if the Solis would do the same and ignore the grid when battery is full and directly power from PV and battery before going to grid when load goes high? Am also running off a prepaid meter which already is in Bypass Mode and my Utility says to ignore the message unless the contactor opens up and it then reflects that it's been tempered with which may happen if the Solis ever exports any PV. Has anyone tried running the Solis with a prepaid meter with absolutely ZERO export? Once I have even the slightest error with the new meter I'm liable to hefty fines from the utility which will insinuate a BYPASS was either done or attempted and cannot risk that. Got a quote already from the Powerforum Store for the Sunsynk but given the new baby on the block am totally at sea now. Help someone.
  21. Solis is definitely now the cat amongst the pigeons because of the after-sales support being timeous. Powerforum Store has also indicated that it's now not pushing for the Sunsynk as the "go-to" hybrid inverter because of the support/after sales issues, which makes the Solis compelling though it seems a younger fellow on the block. Being one person with limited living space, silence is a beautiful thing to have, rather than noisy fans of the Sunsynk... Decisions... Decisions
  22. Looking at the manual, I would suggest if you're near the place where you purchased this, you get in touch them and seek advice about a lithium drop-in option, but ensure you get any guarantees or warranties "in writing", nothing verbal !. Hopefully they may have a tech who can advise or someone here who knows how to change the battery charging parameters to be as per the battery you get to choose to install. The other option would be, if your warranty is now over the initial time, to go to a battery shop and get them to install the battery for you and also give you a "written warranty" on the performance of the battery with your system.
  23. Where I am, the gas fillers are fiddling with the gas weights... and pilfering gas. If you have a scale, also try measuring the actual weight of your gas cylinder, yes apart from the consumption
  24. I'd still take periodic cleansing of your outlets as per advise from @GerhardK83 even if it means a simple method of using white distilled vinegar. On YouTube you can get several ideas of how to do it, using just an ordinary plastic bag. The quality of our water isn't what it used to be, globally with more chemicals now being used in some places, sadly.
