Victron battery balancer
That's not a lot, wonder if it is the 2 per string vs 3 per string making a difference

Victron battery balancer
Thanks Camel I'm also interested in what 2 panels per string is doing. Not seeing any problem on my system, see PV maxing out at +-1550w (heat, angle etc) on normal days and did see 1790w on cloudy days before. Using 10mm² for the strings to the combiner box and 16mm² from combiner box to the inverter +- 9-10m run. I don't like voltage drops Update your signature so we can see what's cooking http://powerforum.co.za/settings/signature/

Victron battery balancer
Let me know how this goes, I might have to add 2 more to my system but really saving up now for 3 more panels to run the geyser on PV during the day

Axpert 5kva
Wrong again, there is a option to limit it at 10A for say 100ah bank but they recommend you use a 200ah bank minimum. If I have gone with what was not recommended and used the 100ah bank and installed 3000w of PV It will still work but I would still not have matched what you stated as things that need to match? Yes it can TTT not necessarily wrong but your statement cant be applied to all setups
-
Axpert 5kva
Yes this is possible, but minimum bank recommended for 5kva units (3000w Solar) is 200ah So you would limit it to 20A
-
Axpert 5kva
Will have to check that for you but I am limiting my current to 20A for the bank +- 1100w going into the batts according to the BMV
-
Axpert 5kva
Fixed it for you 2 strings of 3 panels

Axpert 5kva
You keep saying this and this is not true for the Axpert boys, the thing has enough settings to be safe by having a limit on your charging current and still be able to use the rest of your PV to carry the load

Got me a few this morning. Got to hurry if you want to grab them the people were already parked outside the parking lot

Victron battery balancer
Yes I did it on my 6v batts just grouped them in pairs with voltages as close to each other and that made the 12v "batt" then just follow the wiring diagram sent with the balancers . Just check on the voltages of the pairs every now and then

Axpert MKS 5KVA Inverter - 48V
@The Terrible Triplett Answer me this, why is it that Victron can charge you if you take the cost of the BlueSolar 150/70 charge controller and you want the use the CANUSB interface cable it's more than half the price of the charge controller. What makes this cable so special? Can say the same for Ve Direct to USB

Whats your favorite E27 LED Lightbulb
My problem is in actually getting the item here thanks to our lovely post office. After a couple of orders of a few things that get's lost here it worked out more expensive than it would have for me anyway. Luck of the draw lately with getting your package or not. Some you get some you never do. Courier is just way to expensive negates the saving

Whats your favorite E27 LED Lightbulb
I think when you look at solar and running on batteries at night every few watts you can save kind of makes up for the price
-
Where in Gauteng can I buy .....
Get the network cable from a PC shop
-
Connecting a BMV 600 - by not using the official cable
Yeah that's the way it is, the only variety you will get is in the prices not the items

Surge Protection Devices
Have a look here at Rubicon for fuses. I paid around R25 for PV fuses might have been even less rated to a 1000v DC https://solar.rubiconsa.com/category/34-solar-fuses also fuse holders https://solar.rubiconsa.com/category/35-solar-fuse-holders The fuse they recommend for the battery bank 48v 160A is a little big (7680W) I will cry if my batts do that. Also the fuse for PV seems to have a low Amp rating I'm sure your panels are rated more than 6.8A. Fuses should be rated at 125% of the current to avoid nuisance blowing

Feedback required - tilting panels at the perfect angle.
This in my eyes is a design fault on your frame and kinda defeats the purpose trying to extract the maximum out of your panels then? We not saying it wont work, what we are saying is the cost of doing this + the wasted space you have now with trying to keep the panels from shading on each other vs the cost of just adding a few more panels (Cost is the key point)

Feedback required - tilting panels at the perfect angle.
talking about the space lost and the cost of the tracker vs just adding more panels to your existing install to make up the power lost. The only true thing the tracker probably brings to the table is longer hours of sun, but then again is it worth the cost?
-
Feedback required - tilting panels at the perfect angle.
Do you have dimensions of this frame, I see a huge space lost between the panels making up mounting space for extra panels if it's not used

Feedback required - tilting panels at the perfect angle.
What's the cost of doing a frame like this with tracking?

Battery Questions
How many banks do you have Manie? Update your signature then it's easier to know Is it 4 x 6v batteries that make up one 24v bank?
