My system currently runs 325w Canadian Solar panels installed 5-7 years ago. Have space to squeeze in a few more. Item Wanted: 325w Mono Solar Panels (4 units, preferably Canadian Solar) Packaging Essential: Nope Desired Age: Preferably 8yrs or less. Location: Randburg Willing to accept a shipped item: Mmm preferably not given they Panels. Ballpark/Budget Amount: I believe roughly R2000 for 4 units is reasonable price per watt. Open to reasonable discussion.

Greetings Has anyone had success here? I have Shoto SDA10-48100L5 batteries and Growatt SPF-5000ES inverters. I am running SolarAssistant between the two but still feels like the inverters voltage configuration is overriding the SOC settings on SolarAssistant. Would prefer direct comms between batteries and inverters.

Mmm... running 2x Growatt SPF-5000ES and they don't truly blend for me. In the early morning if my batteries are low they put the Solar to batteries and run the loads from Grid. I don't really see that as blending really... not like the way I understand SunSynk does. I am actually looking to replace my Growatts with probably SunSynk (likely 2x 5kw) as a Victron 8Kw with separate MPPT units is a little costly. I am looking to run 4 strings of panels.

So you going back to selling them or hanging onto them still?

Just an update. While I still want to do east and west panels, in the meantime time the strings were changed to left and right and on a clear day it seems I can generate 3-5kw additional (subject to consumption as well) than the configuration of top and bottom strings.

I am hoping that someone here has found a solution to my challenge or I may be changing batteries which I was kind of hoping not to do. I have 2x Growatt SPF-5000ES inverters in parallel. Generally happy though no expert in these things. I also got 2x Shoto SDA10-48100L5 batteries. (I started with 1x Shoto for load shedding with a hand me down Axpert inverter that I couldn't find a match for so landed up with 2x Growatt and things spiral fast with 2 batteries and panels before I could find the brakes 😉) I also have a victron smartshunt running on the system. Growatt and smartshunt voltage reading seems to be extremely close however the victron smartshunt shows SOC at 86% while Growatt (which does not seemingly support Shoto BMS) is showing 25% as per their app. The battery own light indicates full charge. ICC apparently don't support and while Solar Assistant team have indicated they will work on support, I was trying to get a way for inverters and batteries to talk. Has anyone on the forum found a solution for Growatt and Shoto? My only other thought is asking the store I bought through nicely to swap for Pylontech or something.

Suggestions to close the bedroom and dinning room roofs supported by those walls 😀 budget won't allow for more panels to do the job.

Ok, any ideas of where one would get them and the cost?

That is interesting. My next issue is enough battery capacity to benefit for such generating capacity I guess. Have two Shoto SDA10-48100L5 but still getting power often from the grid... not charging early or late enough is part of the factor too I think. For house and cottage, capacity may not be quite enough.

Thank you for the feedback. Didn't realise how much shade there is being created by those walls and the other roofs are east or west facing and have trees to contend with.

Greetings I have 12 x 325w panels running into 2x Growatt SPF-5000ES inverters. Currently panels are in two strings one on top row and other on bottom row of 6. There are walls on both sides of roof casting shade on the left in the morning and on the right in the afternoons. Should they rather be split as a circular string on the left and and circular string on the right instead so one string is in sun longer in morning and they switch in the afternoon. Picks may illustrate better.

Greetings I have recently been gifted an Axpert 5KVA inverter from my dad. I have added a Shoto 4.8Kw lithium pack to it (hope to add solar panels soon). Previously I had an Axpert 3Kva with 4x 12v AGM batteries as my load shedding backup (running the lights, security, Internet etc). The previous setup with the 3KVA only ever put fans on softy during load shedding and a bit louder when the power was back and it was charging the AGM batteries. When I hooked up the the 5KVA and Shoto lithium battery on Sunday, it seems to be running fans all the time. For setting the parameters of the battery, I used one of the last posts in this thread as a guide. Difference is I don't have panels yet, so just in backup configuration for now, what settings would be advised that may reduce the amount of time the fans are on on the 5KVA inverter when there is no load shedding. Right now they seem to be running all the time.
