Work Mode Timer on Deye inverter causes PV to drop to zero

Featured Replies

My system has been running on Work Mode Timer for the past 2 weeks without any issues. Yesterday morning I noticed that as the day progressed, PV production was not going above 500w. I put this down to the overcast conditions. But as the skies cleared up by lunchtime, the PV was still well below par (See graph below). I thought at this stage that there was a problem with the generation side of things but could not find anything to indicate as such.

For some reason, I decided to untick "Use Timer" and PV generation returned to normal for what I would expect at that time of day. So I ticked "Use Timer" again and this time the PV went all the way down to zero. I unticked it again and all returned to normal 🤔

I have not made any changes to the inverter during the past 2 weeks only for the one day when it was raining and I disengaged the timer to ensure there was enough battery storage for the night.

Any thoughts on what has happened?

Thanks,

MdF

@MdF, can you post a screenshot of your work mode screen

Tariq, this is what is currently on the system. Note: I have unticked Time Of Use as that causes the PV to crash to zero.

So, the system seems to have "fixed" itself. No setting changes were made. Just left it for a few days and Ops Normal returned 🤔

@MdFI'm having exactly the same issue as you've described since last week though it hasn't resolved itself as yet in my case.

With time of use enabled  I Iobserve that once batteries are fully charged up by mid day on full sunny day it drops PV production and immediately starts discharging batteries and grid supplements the load. Time of use must be disabled during the day in order for PV production.

towards the evening around sunset, I need to enable time of use in order for batteries to supply my load. If not done, grid is constantly supplying all load with minmum battery discharge. In some instances it uses grid to charge batteries.

All this nonsense started about 2 weeks ago after Deye support upgraded my inverter software. Prior to this I had absolutely no issues.

I'm pulling out my of hair with this issue and can't seem to fathom out what to do. I've logged a call with deye and awaiting confirmation if the inverter software can be downgraded.

As a matter of interest, what is your inverter software version?

Hi Neetz,

Frustrating problem you have there. Not sure how my system self-corrected. My version details are: HMI - Verc339 and MAIN - Ver2138.

One thing my sparky did do when I installed the second battery last week, was to tick Grid Signal on the second page of Battery Setting. Not sure if this will help?

Thanks for the response. Seems it's resolved on my side for now after another software upgrade however now there is another issue. My earth leakage breaker keeps tripping when loadshedding starts.

After hours of troubleshooting it now appears that new software upgrade has introduced a constant backfeed of 110v from Grid to AC causing tripping. Not sure if this is a software or inverter issue though in my mind it seems software.

Do you mind sending me a screenshot of your inverter parameters from your solarman app as my one attached?

Sorry Neetz, but I can't send that info to you as I am not using the SolarMan app at all anymore 🙄

Maybe reinstall the previous software upgrade if you can to get rid of your current problem?

having the same issue - if we change batt % or time of use PV goes to zero and we use grid

It’s mentioned on this forum (and I’ve seen it happen myself on the Sunsynk which is also made by Deye), check that your first and last time slots are midnight.

That is, the first and last text boxes on the Work Mode page must be 00:00.

I’ve seen similar behaviour otherwise.

If this is already the case then contact Deye…
