Just a question. Due to a weird roof lay out I have 2 strings of 7 panels each ( 455w, Uoc 49.1v , Isc 11.53 A ), facing North west and 1 string of 4 panels( same size) facing North - North east. Do I put the 2 x 7 panels strings on the same MPPT and the 4 panels on the second MPPT ? Will the MPPT be able to handle the 23.06amps on a single MPPT ?

Your heading says voltage but your question is about current.

You are unlikely to get the full amps (panels need to be very cold) and in the event that you do it will simply be clipped to to MPPT max which is 22A in the specsheet. The voltage needs to be strictly adhered to, the current can be a little over

In the real world it is 20A per MPPT. SunSynk support says 22A is too unstable for the SunSynk 8KW. Ignore the spec sheet.

I have seen some people reported the max current as 18A, and I am not sure if this was changed as an upgrade to the later units.

13.3 * 2 = 26.6A

You are about 20% over the max rating (if it is 22A?). And about 48% over the max if it is 18A.

@abeetude how old is your inverter?

 

The latest specsheet from their website states 22A and based on that the @fred31 should be fine with 23A. What does the label on the side of the inverter state?

If the MPPT cannot handle it, it will shut down. At least it will not be damaged. 

 

 

 

I have a Sunsynk 8kw with 28 x 455w panels - 12.7kw - 12x2 + 16x2

The max amperage my inverters MPPT's currently goes to is 19.7A - Max amperage went up from 18 - 19.7 after the latest firmware update

Max Solar power produced is 11.9kw

@iiznh Received July last year. Unit / Box came with stickers stating 22A (like so many others or every unit entering the country at the time), side sticker states 18A. I wouldn't push for 22A if it wasn't possible. What inverter do you have?

I am busy researching all the options, been studying the Sunsync documents (and chatting to a friend that has the 8KW). I only need 5kw but everyone advised me to go one bigger and get the 8KW.

I agree, I bought the 8kW machine, and connected everything as essential load, never had a problem with high loads. I've had loads of over 10kW passing through the machine, when connected to the grid. During load-shedding, keep it below 8kW.
