March 13, 20224 yr Hi all, I have been a long time view and wisher, but the time is arrived. I'm looking for around 400w production a day with a 5.5kw back up hybrid system. I bought a 5.5kw hubble battery new from a friend's father in law for very low cost(sealed) The choice I need to make is sunsynk or deye. Looking at the 8kw. Maybe 8x 455 ja solar panels. Installation cost vary between 15k- 45k just Installation... What is the advise on deye vs sunsynk

Sunsynk = Deye with different software interface... flip a coin? If your putting in a 8kW inverter, try and give it 8kW's worth of panels, or if finances are tight, plan to add later, so use on MPPT for the 8 panels and plan to add a similar string to the 2nd MPPT as finances allow... with one battery you won't be using too many electrons overnight, unless you remain grid tied, but my suggestion is to offload most of the heavy usage (dishwasher etc.) toward the middle of the day, so the sun makes it go, rather than the battery or even eksdom...
March 13, 20224 yr Author Sorry 4kw per hour. Finances only allows like 8s 455s.. with plans to increase later. Yes planning for all heavy appliances between sun filled hours. Geyser/dishwasher/etc. Battery to run essentials only... Will still be grid tied.. for now. For me the installation is baffling me. 15k -45k is crazy difference..
March 13, 20224 yr I would go for the 5kw Sunsynk and more solar panels,if you dont absolutely need that extra 3kw capacity it really extends the payback period of the system unnecessarily.Have you monitored your power usage to see how often and how long you are above 5kw ?. I have produced 52kwh a day with my system ,would the 8kw unit be nice ?Yes sure but it would extend the payback for no good reason.My system was about R90k and the payback period is 4.5-5 years. Try and go for as many solar panels as you can from the start .

April 12, 20224 yr Author Hi all, I have gone with solar advise, deye 8kw hybrid with 2x hubble 5.5kw batteries and 12 455w panels. Installation will be happening tomorrow morning at 9h30. My current average daily consumption is 36kwh. This is with 2x geysers and a huge marine tank. I have changed the hob to gas, and the oven is still electric however AAA+++ rating. Oven and 1 geyser will go onto non essential, main geyser on essential. Install 2x geyser blankets on Thursday, and the astute smart din switches. Will try(my best) to use home assistant with red node to automate my geyser timing. Will take pics.

April 29, 20224 yr Author Best solar production day. 2x hubble am2 batteries fully charged by 12, 2x 3kw geysers heated in the day... 23.3kw generated.
