Such a satisfying thing to watch, nothing coming from eskom loadshedding-offgrid-trial-video-1.mp4

Guys and girls Do NOT Underestimate the power of proper testing of your system. The last 2 weeks doing all these off-grid tests has been super valuable with regards to my setup and all the set

Thanks for sharing your solar experience with the rest of us. It surely should motivate more people to go the solar way, as it makes absolutely sense. What I have also noticed, is that you do indeed not go that big for a start. I am now more than  ever convinced that my 8kW inverter will provide for almost all of my needs.

Off-Grid now for 12 days and counting :)

Average eskom consumption for the month down to under 3 units a day now :)
We bought R200 eskom on the 1st giving us 100 units, still have 30 units left till then end of the month.

100 units will cost me R315

We got out esksdom usage down to 0.8 kWh per day. Our average monthly usage is about 600 - 650 kWh pm.

Our Eksdom usage only contributes to the grid charge atm.

I do however regret not opting for 2 x 5KW inverters instead of a single 8KW inverter.

It is currently on the non-essential side, that's why I said I need to rewire it to the essential side. Already using tasmota to control all the timings :)

Would you like a few sonoff devices to attach on the edg side and get more control  of the appliance? I am happy to donate a few to achieve more savings and some good stats to compare? Just let me know and I can ship some to you.:)

Hello SonOff Affrica @Sonoff Africa
I would love that :)
I can show install steps and photos etc and get everything added to all my graphs to showcase it nicely?

Hi

Please just whatsapp me your address with the Powerforum username and I will ship you some of the demo units tomorrow. They dont have nice boxs as they have been opend.

Hi @Sonoff Africa, I would be very interested in edge Sonoff devices. I am trying to stick with a Sonoff ecosystem, but starting to look at HA, as I need a few scenes to run during LS, and sadly many of our ISP's fail during heavy LS. If I understand you correctly and you have edge devices that could talk to each other in LAN mode, that would be a massive breakthrough. I would be very interested in providing feedback etc. if these are still in Beta stage.

That warm fuzzy feeling when you finally have your solar system dialled in nicely.
Now consistently using less than 100 units per month 😍
And due to all the observations and data collected on my other thread about the JK BMS, these figures should now get even better and maybe closer to that goal of totally off-grid.

Hallo Sparky

Nice to follow your thread, and it appears that your system is starting to come nicely together.

I switched my system on 17 October 2022, and has up to now, not used a single watt from the grid, which makes me very happy. I have installed a Mecer 8kw Max 2 inverter, with 10x600w Canadian solar panels, and 2x5.5 AM2 Hubble batteries. My monitoring is done via Raspberry ICM, which seems tp be working brilliantly so far. Must say that the weather has also been good up to now.

The next step is also now to connect some devices to sonof, of which one will be the geyser.

Greetings from Gauteng!

Great move going onto solar, I hope it gives you as much joy as mine does for me 🥰

Check my browser favourites bar at the top :) almost filled up with my connected/tasmotised sonoff devices and a few vizia metering switches. Still have a whole bunch to connect to the system, if only there were another 12 hours in the day 🤣
