July 29, 20224 yr Is there anyone with experience with high voltage battery systems in a residential setting? I know it's common in commercial and utility scale and the tech is trickling down to residential now from Pylontech, BYD, BSL, FoxESS, etc From what I've seen from the big solar show in Germany in May they are starting to look like a great storage system where you can just buy another module and add it on with no need for wiring or electricians.
July 30, 20224 yr Hi @AgentMuldersyes we do have experience in the high voltage battery installations. We mainly consult these for commercial clients. However, the Sun Grow High Voltage solution is available & yes it's modular & can be scaled up by adding another module or brick. After consultation from the main supplier, not a single unit has been sold. Looks very good though on paper. I can only talk about the Commercial high voltage solution. It is an extremely elegant solution. Much thinner cable diameter & less amount of copper used & so less amps required. High Volts, less amps for a given wattage.
July 30, 20224 yr Got the Weco 5K3 LV/HV Dual Voltage battery, but in the end only installed in a classic wall-hung LV configuration. Looks at home in a residential setting. Would be interesting to know what HV inverters could go with it.
July 30, 20224 yr I was in Durbs on a totally seperate mission & carrying out an inspection to assist some guys & I saw this at one of the clients homes. What a piece of art this is. The first time I have seen one in the flesh!!! Extremely sleek & it just works almost plug & play but I guess not cheap at all, none the less very very effective. I alway thought it had a plastic moulded case. This material used is powder coated white steel. Much the same as the FreedomWon Battery casing material. But the battery is very very compact indeed.
August 2, 20223 yr Author The Tesla system is very cool and from what I understand of it (admittedly little) it's a high voltage battery system with built in inverter, so it sits on the AC side of your system. I'm super excited about my install happening today, I took the plunge and went for a FoxESS 10.5kw inverter with 16kwh high voltage battery system. Watching as much intersolar 2022 content as I could find in English, then all the German content with subtitles, it seems the industry is shifting to high voltage for residential in Europe. Lots of manufacturers were showing off their new systems
