Sunmagic 5kva 48v (clone?) inverter not connecting to watchpower

Featured Replies

Hello, I have the above and have read all blogs on forum, but still no advice on clearing this problem. I have used all different cords and updated all software for laptop and usb's, also restarted laptop afew times, have tried different versions of watch power not working either, and also deleted and re-installed watch power latest version 1.14. Is there anyone out there that has had this problem and got it up and working?

How are you trying to connect? What cables came with the inverter.

Maybe post a picture of your setup to show where ,what is plugged in.

My (clone) came with a usb /printer cable that connects between the inverter and the computer and running multisibcontrol works for me.

Hello Piper, thanks for the reply, sorry, yes I have a usb to printer cable(usb - usb-b. The software that you use, says it is for PIP/Axpert inverters, so you say it will work with Sunmagic?

Hello Coulomb, thanks for reply, no my system does not look as picture, but seems to be a newer version and smaller thats can hang on to wall.

Still trying o find pictures of setup.

That looks like a low voltage mppt Axpert or a clone. Multisibcontrol should work on it, give it a try, you can't break anything, it should work with USB if your inverter has a USB port. Best thing is to take a pic of the sticker on the side of the inverter in order to identify it. Also take one of the connections on the bottom.

Edit: looks very Axpert like:

Hello Jumper, yes that looks similar to mine, but there are quite a few that look like that of different makes.

Thanks will try the Multisibcontrol and see what happens.

Hello All, I have tried the Multisibcontrol software and get no connection to inverter with usb - usb-b( usb - printer cable), have tried 2x different ones, work on my printer. Also have tried rj45 to usb with mercer adaptor. Can install a few readings and click okay and thats it, no inverter  and can't fill it in either. Is my Sunmagic 5kva 48v hydrid inverter not up to this, ( from the very bottom of the barrel ) or am I not doing any thing right as I have not got pylon batteries but 2 sets of 4 100ah gel batteries and they are connected to the inverter. Hope there is an answer outthere, or else I will have to wait till I can upgrade to a better inverter.

Strange that some things work and some don't. The USB printer cable should be all you need, that's what I use and it's plug and play, maybe it is your clone software. It won't matter what batteries you have as you are only talking to the inverter.

Hopefully someone else with a sunmagic unit has some answers.

Thanks for the reply, Jumper, till next time.

@Peter Reed did you ever come right with the Sunmagic. I also have one of these and it doesn't accept setting changes. Just wondering if anyone has a way to rest it. I want it to only charge battery using solar but it just doesn't accept any parameter changes.
