I'm not that experienced with the axperts so far, but as long as I install a FW that was produced for this type of processor, the inverter should at least boot up and I should be able to flash another fw. Am I right?

I based my assumptions on my notes that 46.xx is an Axpert Max 1 firmware. I suppose it's possible that Max 1 and Max 2 firmware could be the same, with all the differences handled in the display firmware. My notes say that some Max serial numbers start with 9293, others with 9634. Most (not all) of the 7.2 kW modes use 9293, many of the Max II models use 9634. So unfortunately, the first few digits of the serial number can't distinguish. The only difference that I know of between a Max 1 and a Max II is the display, and maybe some nuances of the LED ring versus the LED bar. Short answer: yes. But there are ways it can go bad. By far the safest way is to complain to your supplier, and suggest that a firmware update would get you off his back. Of course, that's often a really slow and painful way.

Regarding serial: As posted before, my device pop's up as 9293211116xxx in watchpower (guess this is the real serial) and has a sticker with 92342209xxx on it (fake). So I consider it is more a MAX I "inside", even sticker says MAX II and the round display would state that too. Charging current (display config parameter 2) can be set to 120A max and not 150A, the main reason I decided for a MAX II. Nevertheless, the QMN command (Query model name) answers MKS2-8000. As I expect this string comes from the firmware that was installed, I'd better not try to flash a 46.05 fimware from a MAX 1 inverter. So I better stuck on 46.05 for now, even with "bad performance" these days, unless the right FW files are available somewhere. One more thing that bothers me: The pv production counters get updated every full hour only (commands QET, QED). This makes logging very inaccurate and does not allow "nice curves". Is this a device specific issue only, or do all Axpert's behave like that?

The QMN response comes from the display firmware, based on what responses (if any) it gets from QMN and QGMN commands. QMN is a weird command that only seems to be implemented in VM series main firmwares. Just for the MAX series, there is 1 versus II, the two chip variants, and the 4 power levels. That's a total of 16 different main firmwares! Then there are the MKS IVs, which look like the MKS IVs and the Infini V IV (but are all very different), and older models like the MKS II and III, King and King II, both standard and rack mounted, there are still many VM IIIs about. Then there are all the display firmwares (removable and non, two chipsets there as well)... Plus the MKS 1s (three variants). And other Infinis. AFAIK the inverter will only switch to grid when reaching a low battery level. If you look at the table you you will with the relay switch to grid the moment you reach the alarm level. Unless I missed something it would seem as if the relay does what the inverter will also do without the relay while in SBU mode. Once you reach cut out either will switch the inverter off. I've assumed it is heat related but can't prove it - providing better ventilation does not seem to change the behaviour. 2. The time keeping is poor, losing about 8 minutes a day. Since I'm using it to charge batteries on a cheap overnight tariff this means I need to update the time each evening. 3. It draws about 70W from the mains during the day when it is in SBU mode. This is 1.4kWh per day for the 20 hours of peak rate, or about 60p/day or £219/year. Not the end of the world but annoying - I can spend that money far better than the electricity company. I can disconnect the mains in the morning and reconnect in the evening, but life is too short already. Apart from those issues, the unit is performing really well. with 20kWh of Pylontech batteries I estimate the arrangement is saving me over £1,600 per year.

August 29, 20232 yr I Have Mercer 8KW inverter. I have had an F90 fault in the past 9 months. The technician at Mustek South Africa said that the control board was replaced, each time i had the ubit repaired. The control board has this number on it: RMA#2212009 31-550718-03G-CPCBA CNTL/AXPERT MAX II/VOL 8KVA 230V W/O COMM CE. What would be the cause of the F90 fault? It stops working once it displays this fault on the LED screen.
