September 7, 20223 yr Hi I am new on this site but have found a lot of valuable information over my time working with different inverters and developing a bms board. I would appreciate if someone can help me with the Luxpower SNA5000 WPV model. It has a lot of settings and it looks like a very modern, well thought through inverter with a lot of different options. It has an option to select Lithium batteries and after you select Li-batt you can then choose which brand you are using, it has 4 dedicated options according to the manual - 0 Standard Battery, 2 Pylon Battery, 6 Luxpower protocol Battery, 8 Dyness Battery. That is all good and well but the thing is I can put it on 2 for pylon, 0 for standard or 8 for dyness and it communicates with my bms, but it does not want to charge the battery ? I have set the Luxpower Ac charge time start to 00:00 and end time to 23:59 so that it can always charge from the grid, then I see that when my battery SOC is below 90% when I turn on the Luxpower inverter, it will start to charge immediately and I have control over the charge current which I send over canbus as well as the SOC values. When the SOC% reaches 100% the inverter stops to charge, that is great well done, but when the SOC% lowers to <90 it should then start to charge again right ? Well it does not ? Why not ? The SOC can even be lower than 15% then the inverter will turn off the AC output but it will still not start to charge. If I switch off the luxpower with the on off switch, and then back on again, I can see the canbus communication is there right away between my bms and inverter and it will say for example 78% and will start to charge immediately, but when it reaches 100% it stops and never starts again, no matter how far the SOC% lowers. I can set the inverter to charge from AC according to the battery Voltage as well but it does not look like it reacts according to voltage. It does exactly the same cycle as when it is set to charge according to battery SOC? Has anyone experienced this before ? Please help ? I need to be able to charge the battery according to voltage or SOC for more than just once
September 7, 20223 yr Hello @NeilFer, Only had my Lux SNA's on for a day and a bit and still scratching my head about some of the settings, but from what I have read in your post this sounds like an obvious bug in the Lux firmware. It does not make sense that there would be no charge after a successful AC charge, and then suddenly the charge happens when you power cycle the Inverter. I would suggest you engage with Lux support, and be ready with some video evidence of your issue (I am saying this because the language barrier is broken down somewhat with a visual example of your issue). Good luck and kudo's on your BMS board!
September 7, 20223 yr Author Hi @Supergeek Thanks for the reply, do you have comms with your Lux inverter with Canbus ? Did you do any firmware upgrade on your inverter ?

Hello @NeilFer, Yes, I have CANBus comms to my stack of Pylontech US3000C's. I have not attempted a firmware upgrade just yet, but it is definitely something I will be looking into in the next week or so (probably the weekend). What firmware version are you running?
September 7, 20223 yr Author Hi @Supergeek Okey thanks, so you also have the same protocol that I am running at the moment, have you ever checked to see if the inverter charges the battery after you discharged it for a while ? Say one load shedding cycle and then the inverter should charge the battery again when the grid comes back on, if you can just check if that does happen that would be great as well as when does the charging start ? at a certain voltage or a SOC% ? I have played around with all the settings but the inverter only starts charging once and then never again. I did not do any firmware upgrades on the inverter, I am not even sure where to check my current version but I did see where to download new ones on the app.
December 15, 20223 yr Good day i have the same problem with it not charging. My setup is luxpower sna5000 with hubble am2 i had firmware updates on both inverter and battery. The problem is after loadshedding when the soc dropped below 90% and when it should start it sometimes charges for 5 minutes then stops. I is very frustrating.

The problem is after loadshedding when the soc dropped below 90% and when it should start it sometimes charges for 5 minutes then stops. I is very frustrating. The rate of charge is controlled by the battery BMS, it will allow and disallow charge (and discharge) and it will dictate the maximum rate at what the inverter can charge (or discharge). It send this in CAN messages to the inverter, which hasn't got any choice but to comply. What I have noticed with my 5K Sunsynk and 3x Hubble AM-2s is that the Hubbles will drop the allowable charge rate to a tiny trickle once reaching 90% (around 1-2Amps). This is usual behavior for any Lithium battery BMS (Pylontechs throttle charge back at 88%), but with Hubble AM-2s it is very pronounced because the allowable charge amperage is very low. So when you say that the charging stops, do you actually measure the charge rate? Is it not just a trickle charge?
December 25, 20223 yr How do you update the firmware?? 😐 mine isn't charging when in Lithium mode. just realized my installer set it up as lead-acid despite it being a lithium battery, and after correcting that and establishing comms with the battery, the inverter isn't charging the battery on mains despite correct settings Edited December 25, 20223 yr by FragtioN
January 24, 20233 yr I have the same issue with Luxpower SNA5000 inverters. Installed three at different clients. The first Installation does not charge the battery after the grid is back on. The second installation took awhile and all of a sudden recognized/read the battery with the same issue, have to restart inverter to charge battery. Third inverter does not read the battery?? Very very frustrating - waiting on news from supplier. All CFE-5100S batteries. Edited January 24, 20233 yr by Quasiengineer add data
February 1, 20233 yr Hi all I have a purchased a Luxpower SNA 5000 solar inverter and a nenergy lifepo4 battery. We are really struggling to get the settings to work. The battery just doesn't seem to get charged by the inverter. Is there anyone that has this setup working or can advise on what settings to use. I'd really appreciate the assistance.
February 23, 20233 yr Hallo The luxpower inverters are great inverter, especially the remote settings option. Inverter BMS reader sometimes read incorrectly or slowly gets a lower reading, stating 50v is 100% SOC. Hubble am2 batteries, Work around is to manually put inverter to lead acid mode, unit will restart. Manually input the full voltage, charge full, then go back to lithium setting. Note, every time you change the battery type, the charging times reset. I find splitting the times, aka on off 1 and use on off 2 works better then try to set for 24h. Say 12:00~23:00. Then 23:05~11:55 5min gap for relays to change, luxpower inverters are in no hurry to click relays. Happy charging.
March 17, 20233 yr Hi I have a lux power inverter and green rich battery. I would like to find out when the fan comes on during cooling which is every 15 minutes for about 4/5 seconds the battery light flashes and the battery chargers . Is this normal.

Sounds normal, especially if there is load on the inverter (either AC or DC) you can change the fan settings in Menu option 29 i think
May 8, 20233 yr Please will someone post the rj45 connections for the SNA500 and Hubble AM2 battery. TIA

We have noticed that if there is not load shedding for more as 24 hours, the Hubble battery goes to sleep. (See Hubble AM-2 manual online) We have same setup Luxpower SNA5000 and HubbleAM-2. Press with a paper clip the reset button for 6 sec at the bottom of your battery. This will restart the charging. We had it now twice in 1 Year. Over X-mas when there was hardly any load shedding and now over the weekend.

I see a 27 on the display which doesn’t make sense. I can’t even find the number on the settings and errors. I have commissioned 24 Luxpower SNA5000 even paralleled a few. I have never came across this . I will try your suggestion and see
August 9, 20232 yr Dear Experts, I am also facing issue with this battery that my battery isn’t working with inverter Inverter brand is “ SOLARMAX” and battery is V-LFP48100-P15 48V100AH . The battery is fine but I don’t have it’s communication cable . (I don’t know that I need it for communicating with inverter). Can you pls guide how can I solve this problem?
