October 4, 20223 yr I have a Kodak 3.5kw inverter with one Pylontech US2000 battery. My emergency supply from the inverter is all the lights in the house and my office (Monitors + wifi router). Usually the load is between 200-400watt and it never exceeds 400w. I have a problem where I get a trip most of the time when there is load shedding or when i switch off the mains. The inverter gives me an "AC overcurrent" error. This error is not discussed in the manual. If you leave it for +-5min, the inverter comes on by itself and keeps running. No trips after that. it also does not happen all the time, but it does happen more than not. I can't figure out what the cause is. Are there any suggestions?
October 4, 20223 yr Obviously you use the inverter as an UPS. When load shedding occurs the UPS switches the load from utility to inverter. That might take up to 40 ms, you might notice a short flicker of the lights. Some fridges and freezers cannot overcome this, the compressor stops and cannot restart against the still existing pressure. In this situation it draws very high current until its protection trips. That protection resets itself after a while and the fridge restarts. The cases you don't have an over-current is when the fridge happens to be at rest at the moment load shedding occurs. This is only my hypothesis. What can you do against it? Load sheddings are scheduled. Turn off your fridge minutes before schedule and turn it back on after switching has occurred.

October 4, 20223 yr Author Thank you Beat. it does make a lot of sense but I do not have any fridges on the inverter's output. It does make me think that the problem might be with the florescent lights or the energy savers. the other loads are: my laptop, wifi(12V) and computer monitor. I will also have a look at what you recommended jumper. i do have an earth leakage going to the inverter and not on the output of the inverter.
October 27, 20223 yr Author i followed your advice jumper and that did solve the problem. The earth leakage was installed before the inverter. I moved it to the outlet and no more trips. Thank you for the advice.
