I recently bought the 8 zone version of this hoping to integrate some functionality into Home Assistant knowing that it would not expose all entities according to write-ups.

According to one user though, he managed to expose the scenes created in the Smart Life App to HA, hence obtaining some control,  yet mine doesn't seem to expose anything.

Has anyone managed to do this yet?  

I've used Opensprinkler in the past with HA,
the local supplier seems to have stopped bringing them in, and we moved house, so I need a new one/ few more, so I made a few more using ESP32, need to finish enclosures and they should be ready, but code has been ported and they are running on my desk

I actually meant to update this post...I managed to get access to the entities by restarting the Tuya integration. For some reason the scenes do not pull through like adding an ordinary accessory. So I have set up a Node Red flow with timers. Working on the bench, now just to go wire it up to the solenoids.

So, I have been looking into the options and have been looking at 2 main options: 

- An ESP32 system using a relay system with a 24v power supply using the conventional controllers. Can do DIY or there are some prebuilt systems around.

- Battery power smart valves using the Zigbee network - local prices are high but can buy from Aliexpress for reasonable prices.

If you include the costs of the 24V valves into it there doesn't really seem to be that much difference in cost between building your own smart system and importing some valves from China.

Zigbee seems to be the best option. Requires it's own transmitter which can be either a USB plug into the HA pc or you can get an ethernet to Zigbee gateway. 

Zigbee devices have much lower power consumption than wifi and much higher range (+50mtr) than wifi/bluetooth connections, so they can run of disposable batteries.
