February 23, 20233 yr Hi Guys, Please help me, I am busy getting crazy here Here are my settings. The PV will charge the battery to 100% and take the UPS load, but as soon as my geyser switch on, which is on the non essential side on the main db, the Inverter will start to discharge the battery to around 95% instead of taking more load from the grid. The SOC is set to 100% during the day. What am I missing here?
February 23, 20233 yr How much PV do you have installed? Total load for the house in that image is 2980w. Your time of use is set to 100% and you have priority load, so your max PV - which i am assuming to be 2246w at this time is going to cover your load. But there is a shortfall of approx 730w - this will come from the battery or if in a spike - from the grid then battery. System seems to be working as intended. Because Grid isnt ticked on time of use for that slot it will always use PV then battery THEN grid. The only way to enfore 100% is to tick grid on time of use then it will not use battery but PV and grid

Only tick grid if you absolutely want whatever power is used (that is greater than the available PV) to come from the grid and not batteries.

Hi, I have ticked the Grid now on all the timers, but the Inverter still draw power from the battery. What I noticed is that is that it is always +-520W, so not sure if there are a setting I am missing
February 23, 20233 yr Author Must I use the Timer? I see if I untick "Use Timer" and press "OK". When I enter back into the menu, the use timer is tick again. It almost looks like if the timer is stuck on a previous setting when I had all at 95%
February 23, 20233 yr Maybe a silly question, but is your base time setting for the inverter correct? Other than that, are you doing grid peak shaving? Ticking the grid boxes just changes whether you want to charge from grid up to minimum SOC, it's not a reason why you would be dropping below.

Thanks, yes my Time settings is correct and no I don't do any peak shaving. I see it is behaving now. I have changed the SOC from 100% to 99%, for some reason now it doesn't draw any power from the battery as it should. I will monitor it over the weekend.
February 24, 20233 yr Author Hi Guys, please help, still not winning. Either I don't understand the Inverter or it is not working correctly. I have set my SOC to 100%, Grid tick on all and untick "Priority to Load". Every time my total load (non-essentials + essentials) is more than the PV, the Inverter still start to discharge to battery, but only at a small amount, +-500W and will draw nothing from the Grid or very little from the grid. February 26, 20233 yr Author Hi Guys, I think I have figured it out, because the inverter is now working properly. Here is my 2c: I think it has to do with the BMS that does not want to float the battery at 100%. If I make my SOC 90%, the battery will discharge to 90% and stay there. It will then draw power from the grid if the PV is not enough and not from the battery as previously on 100% SOC. Only issue now is, the battery charge between 90 SOC and 100SOC the whole time when there is PV available. Thus not sure if that might be a issue for the battery life span. Thanks for the assistance. Is there a reason why you use grid during the day time when there is solar to charge the battery? It just seems as if PV could be wasted by being idle.

Like I said, looks like if the SOC is <90% the Inverter stop using the battery for supplying power to the non-essentials. Only issue I have now is, when the PV charge the battery up to 100% and for example the wife switch on the tumble dryer and Steam iron, the non-essential obvious jump to +-5kW. Now the issue is, when PV is low and battery 100%, the inverter discharge the battery at 4000kW to the non-essential and not taking power from the grid until SOC is 90%. How can I limit that 4000kW, because I can't think that is good for the battery? I was thinking in turning down the discharge amp in the battery setup, but then I limit myself during load shedding.
