My Kodak OG3.24G works like an absolute dream but I can't find the setting that will allow me to use more than the inverter's max output (3kW) while under normal operation (no loadshedding) without having to switch the 3-way breaker back to "no loadshedding". In other words, I want to use more than the rated max 3kW on the essential circuits while not loadshedding (eg. kettle + dishwasher + washing machine) On overload, it beeps profusely but has never actually shut down as it does when an overload occurs running off batteries.

I am not familiar with your inverter at all, so please consider this when reading the below.

I think you are referring to allowing pass-through current from the grid+inverter power. However, it sounds to me like your wiring setup is not allowing current to get to the inverter to allow pass-through current.

What is the "max allowed from grid" on the inverter?

I was surprised when I went looking for the bypass current limit in a 5 kVA model that I could not find it. It really looks as though bypass mode doesn't allow more power before overload is declared. I suppose it makes some sense as the power still has to go through internal PCB tracks and relays. Though in the case of the 5 kVA models, the relays are rated for 40 A, almost twice what the inverter is rated for (5000 VA / 230 V = 21.7 A). Maybe the PCB traces are the limitation.

We are seeing a number of inverters with bypass exceeding the actual inverter rating. It was actually normal for those with trip switches to trip when going over the inverter rating. It is for this and other reasons why 5kW inverters are just more popular than 3-4kW units.

Right through the Easter weekend, I encounter multiple overload situations (whilst on grid), yet not once did the inverter shut down (just sounded the alarm) I prefer not to silence alarms, but if it now seems like a viable option.  Either that or just endure the beeping.
