May 28, 20233 yr Hi all, sorry for my bad drawing skills, but I hope you get the idea. My question is simply, is my wiring diagram correct? - I have not shown the SPDs or the earth neutral bond or the grounding wiring. - I have nothin on the aux port. - I don't have a split DB - I have two 5kw Sunsynk inverters in parallel Do I use a 2 Pole change over switch? and if so, do I bridge the incoming grid to the changeover and the main grid incoming breaker as shown? May 28, 20233 yr Grid in MCB must be moved up, iow change-over sw must feed from the bottom of 63A MCB together with the two 40A. Remove Load out 63A MCB completely.
May 29, 20233 yr Author Hi @VirWat thanks for the reply. 1) I like the suggestion about moving the main grid MCB but then, as I understand it, if I switch over to grid side (on switch over MCB), and I want to remove grid from the two inverters I need to isolate them individually (one by one). If you say the breaker 'must' be moved, is this a regulation or guideline somewhere? 2) The reason I have those parallel breakers (main grid in and main load out) is because of a video of Keith of Sunsynk about paralleling inverters. He said that Grid, Load and Battery should always be switched together. Not sure I misunderstood what he said.
May 30, 20233 yr 1) Why I said move your 63A up, your change-over switch must feed from the bottom of a protection device (CB) 2) What Keith says in the video, to my understanding, your two single phase, paralleled inverters must feed from one (1) protection device, not two (2). So you must only have ONE suitably sized circuit-breaker for Grid In and the same for Load out. I will try to upload a schematic the way I understand it. Edited May 30, 20233 yr by VirWat Add pic
May 30, 20233 yr Author Thanks 1) It makes sense in that case. 2) I agree, that is what he said in the video. So that is why I have those main rid in and load out breakers. However, to have the option to switch out one inverter completely in case of failure of the one, I thought it would be a good idea. And also, it shows this graphic in the user manual. Not really clear from sunsynk.
May 31, 20233 yr Author Hence I thought I'd go with both 40A breakers to each inverter and 63A breaker as the 'main' But understanding you correctly then I need to put an additional breaker on the grid side before the changeover switch

Without confirming it 1 relay can work as the output of the 2 Inverters are in parallel. But.... Having a relay on each inverter means no bonding changes when you need to remove 1 inverter. This is just how I think🤔
June 27, 20233 yr Author I saw an amp rating spec the first time the other day for 5kw sunsynk vs the 3kw one. I think mine is only 16A so is suitable for the 3kw only. Will need to upgrade. My system is not commissioned yet so will have to report back when all done
