  1. Reviving an old thread here. Has anyone connected a victron smart shunt to a Sunsynk inverter to provide SOC, voltage and current info to the inverter. If so could you let us know how? Thanks

  3. I have monitored it for a few days now. The combined two packs are 666Ah on common busbar. The interter knows the capacity is 666Ah. The inverter is set to AGM% mode. The SOC estimated by the inverter is constantly about 3-4% lower than the combined Averge battery packs, reported for the Averge master BMS. So I recon if I use the Inverter SOC in the timer settings I should be safe enough.
  4. Correction: The inverter is not taking the SOC from the Averge BMS. (I was looking at the SOC on the Solarassistant which is also connected to the pack via RS232). So, the question is still. How is the Sunsynk calculating the SOC for the combined Lifepo4 battery bank when it is in AGM% mode. Can't be based on voltage right?
  5. Hi all, I have two Sunsynk 5kW inverters in parallel, and two different packs of batteries. 3*Averge 100Ah, and 2*DIY 183Ah with JK BMS. In total they come to 666Ah. They are all paralleled on the same busbar. The RS485 coms cable of the Averge pack is still plugged into the inverter from when I had only the Averge packs, and it was set as a lithium battery. I had it operating on AGM-V mode for a while after adding the DIY battery, but find that using the "timer" is a pain; the difference in voltage between discharging and charging sometimes causes the system to constantly switch between charging and discharging. Today I set the battery type to AGM% (AGM State of Charge). It seems to me that the inverter is still taking the SOC and battery voltage from the Averge master battery via the coms cable. Can that be? Or does it calculate the SOC in another way. Essentially it is Lithium, set as AGM. If it takes the SOC from the Averge BMS I'd be happy to keep it like that. The DIY pack just rides along on the voltage determined by Sunsynk and controlled by the timer and Averge SOC. Please comment, I'd like to confirm if this is going to be viable long term setup for me. Thanks

Have you noticed this, and do you have a suggestion? - I have 2x5kW Sunsynk inverters in parallel with 15kWh battery bank. - Sometimes, watching the dials on my inverter or Solarassistant, everything seems to fluctuate wildly. - The grid usage goes up and down, the load goes up and down, the amps going into the battery goes up and down and sometimes if we have some clouds the solar production also goes up and down. - I was used to this normally be fairly stable with normal use like when the pool pump or geyser comes on etc, but stable in a sense that it doesn't constantly fluctuate. - Then I realized it was because of this powerful steam iron that seems to draw power for 5-10 seconds, then it will be off for 5 seconds and so on. - The effect of this is that the inverter has to constantly adjust for these sudden changes, and seeing everything is in balance.... solar, battery, load, grid.... it causes this. It is painful to watch. My question is, are there any irons that don't do this, that you can suggest? Is it bad for our other appliances? Or am I just being a ninny

  8. I ended up going the conservative route and brought the system down before making the change. But I would still be interested in hearing from the experts. If it is dangerous you would think that they would block you in the app

  11. Hi all, this might be a dumb question so don't shoot me. I am adding another battery to my parallel 5kw inverter system. Can I switch it on the app to 'no battery' while keeping the inverters on online? My expectation is that I will then be able switch the breaker on the existing batteries off and then have zero Volts on the battery busbar. Then I will add the new battery, connect it to the busbar, flip all the battery breakers to 'on' and then change the inverter via the app again to 'Lithium'. Do I run any risk on the inverter? Or is it OK? PS. I know I should only add the battery if it is similar state of charge.

  13. I bought 32 of those SVolt 184Ah cells earlier in the year. So need to get them assembled. I currently have 3 Averge 48100S packs
  14. Haha, yes you are right, but I am 10 years out so will have to stick with a helper for now 🙂 On a normal summer day I have no problem at all. I am doubling my battery capacity with a diy battery build over the holiday so that will leave max 5% of days where I need any grid at all. Not days like above though.

  18. There was another update last night, now the ones showing above are zero.... Not sure what is going on there
  19. Suddenly Grid out and battery discharged is showing up as negative, which could be an attempt to show direction of flow, in addition to the name of the entity. Problem is that in Homeassistant engergy dashboard, where it shows e.g. net energy consumed, the calculation is now incorrect. It also causes the energy use graphic incorrectly Anyone else noticed this? Thanks
  20. I notice that the slave takes some time to adopt the settings sent to it by the master. There is a delay in other words from the time the master reflects the change, to when the slave reflects the change. My concern is that in that delay, the master might raise its voltage to start feeding back to the grid while the slave doesn't do the same, would there be a possible flow back or imbalance caused by that? Does anyone else do that on a regular basis without problems?
  21. It feels to me that it always takes a few seconds for the change to propagate between the two. That is what I am more concerned about.
  22. I have 2x Sunsynk 5kW inverters in parallel and I want to switch 'Solar Export' on during the day when I feel I have enough solar, so under load. You set this on the master inverter and shortly thereafter it will sync to the slave inverter. Is it OK to set and un-set this during the day when there is load and PV? Thanks
