June 12, 20233 yr Hi guys I would like to find out from the experts is it possible to combine two strings facing different direction and make it one from the Combiner box to inverter

Very common to use east and west strings in parallel. Just ensure the MPPT can accept the current from the 2 strings. If inverter has a max of under 18-23A and a single MPPT it might clip the current. Must be more specific and how many panels and Imp of panels and inverter in question.

June 12, 20233 yr I am guessing here but it makes sense that a panel facing north gets optimised for winter around 30 degrees inclination. If you put a panel on its side to face true east or true west then the inclination doesn't matter at all. So tilting a panel somewhat east and somewhat north could make sense around a flatter 15 degrees. Otherwise the high summer sun will throw a lot of shade early and late in the day on the panels. I am sure a decent solar design app can optimise yield or power for any orientation.
June 12, 20233 yr A better explanation of why 15degrees for you @Bobster. 🙂 Very interesting reading I must say, my first gut feeling was that it wouldn't work.

Thanks for the link. Very informative and very good comments and replies provided. I see it's not just here where some installers also advise to use east and west in series with a very bad outcome. Good to see the alert when east west in 2 strings are used and there is some shading.
