April 5, 20242 yr Hello all, I've got 3 units of Growatt spf 5000es in 3 phase configuration. Once i turn on some heavy compliance (Electric Kettle - 2KW, AC- 2.5KW) i can hear that the UPS beeps for a second and then stops. it sounds like a voltage drop or something like that. When a kettle is cold the 1st few seconds it will draw more power as the heating element gets hot.
April 5, 20242 yr Author i understand that, but it happens also when the power comes from the solar or the battery (no matter what SOC). if the UPS is activated during that time, i guess that the other appliances that are not protected with a UPS are getting "dirty" electricity. if i will add another inverter in serial to the heavy load phase, will it fix the problem?

If you not over 5kW when you switch on the kettle then one must locate the problem on this phase that feeds the kettle. Check if you can see the actual load when this happens. If the load is high on this phase look at balancing the phases.

The Firmwares of the later versions cannot be crossflashed, The original was the 40 series, then 2 years ago they brought out a "refreshed" series which has the 60 series Firmware and last year they brought out the latest with the 110Series Firmware. Attempting to flash the incorrect series Firmware either fails or bricks the Inverter. It needs controller board changes to be able to accomplish this. I have one original one with 40 Series and one with 110 Series Firmware and they are paralleled with no issues. So they do communicate. Whether there is a 3 phase issue I can't say. Growatt in their wisdom use the same model number, yet they use different controller boards and Firmware. See this older thread which contains references to it and also links to the Growatt site where the Firmwares can be downloaded. you are correct, can't much the firmware (screen shots attached), if there is a newer version for one of the models, please let me know. all syncs up and work, so far there is only 2 problem, the first one as described here and also a new one that the system is not going to ac bypass mode when overloaded (option 18 is enabled), it cuts the power and auto restarting.

April 9, 20242 yr The problem is in the inverters. I had 3 x SPF5000ES now I have 3 x SPF6000ES in 3-phase. The voltage drop when an intensive load is switched on is reflected in all inverters. This is related to a sharp drop in the HV bus level. Simply the capacity of the HV bus is not sufficient to compensate for the sudden increase in consumption or the control of the DC/DC converter is too slow.

April 12, 20242 yr The high voltage bus in the inverter has approx. 380 - 460VDC. It is the source of current for the inverter and battery charger and at the same time the place where all DC power sources meet. In very simple terms, the energy in this bus is accumulated in capacitors that have enough capacity to smooth out the current peaks created during regulation. The SPF 6000ES won't improve your condition, probably adding another inverter per phase might help, but that's just a guess I haven't verified.
April 12, 20242 yr One more thing, the overload bypass does not work in a 3-phase connection! It is the same for all SPFxx00ES.
