Not any specific advice but just trying to assisted from a general nature.

Have you tried to switch off your current mesh wifi.

Use a router that is fixed to only use 2.4Ghz and not 5Ghz. Use or borrow an older router/stick working on 4G/GPRS.

Connect phone to this router when trying to pair via the APP.

Check if you have any luck.

I have a heat pump connected. I didn't have any issues connecting but did notice that the heat pump seemed to be using 802.11b according to my network dashboard which is old and slow and possibly disabled on your network? Might be worth taking a look.

I would suggest that both of these gents are on the right track.

Most “Smart” / IOT devices only support 2.5GHz WiFi band.

If your WiFi devices support this, create a separate WiFi SSID with a name like IOT and limit this to 2.5GHz and turn off all the fancy features. Keep it plain and simple. Then use this “IOT” network for all your smart devices.

Easy way to test your heat pump is to create a WiFi hotspot on your phone and see if the heat pump will connect to that hotspot.

Sounds like a good call using the phone. Due to so many routers having both channels if one can limit the WiFi to the slow one only it should work.

I myself use 1 router for all my IOT devices. Data used for about 6 IOT devices is less than 250MB in 2 months.

Still battling with this one:

have tried disabling all security (as a test) on the WiFi and nothing

Which mesh system do you have? Make sure your network is set to 2.4 and 5Mhz networks. I had the same issue with my house alarm and could not get it to connect, the problem is certain devices cannot communicate on certain channels, in my case I cannot set the channel and had to keep scanning my network for the TP-link app to change the channel before it eventually worked.

Thank you I have TPLink Deco system.

Tried all combinations.

Stuck

Same issue I had on my mesh system also Deco, keep scanning the network under optimize network until you get another channel for 2.4Mhz also strugled with my cameras until I found the right channel. I don't know why they don't give us the option to choose our own channels.

That is why I suggested you should create a separate “WiFi network” / SSID for your IOT smart devices and only turn these settings off for this SSID.

These settings are normally configurable on a per SSID basis.

Then the rest of your devices can continue as is at full speed on your regular SSID.

My problem with the Deco is how it is set up to the main deco. if your setup is good i.e. main deco central in your home and the other decos connect to it like a snowflake schema, then things work out nicely. In my set up, the decos were in a straight line, but the main was on 1 end and then last deco on the other end about 20m away. It didn't work very well for me. I then switched to the Reyee ceiling mounted access points. This system is so much better and I have full coverage of 2.4GH and 5Gh across my entire house.
