June 13, 20242 yr Hello Colleagues, I’ve got a 14.5kw ITS HeatPump and around 70,000l of water. I’m just wondering what other people’s experiences are with pool heaters? I have a blanket as well. i have solar so I can only run my heater at certain times. any advice? How long will it take to heat my pool to say 30 degrees? I also have solar panels on my roof…
June 15, 20242 yr That sounds way too small for that pool size. If you're not running it constantly I'm not sure you'll even keep up with the natural heat loss from overnight temps. It takes a lot of energy to heat a pool and if you're only going to be running it for a few hours a day I think skipping swimming in the colder months and using it to get the pool warmer when temps increase a bit would be the most optimal otherwise you'd need to oversize the heat pump.
June 15, 20242 yr Yeah, so the heatpump output is only 14.5kW under very specific conditions - like the outside temperature has to be higher than the pool temperature. In winter its output can drop down to 2.8kW. So to answer your question: On 2024/06/13 at 6:53 PM, Raiden2912 said: How long will it take to heat my pool to say 30 degrees? At least 3 months or so.
June 15, 20242 yr My very very rough calculation give 27.33 kWh per degree in summer when the COP is 3 and that is with no heat loss which in a pool is very high.

The COP for this heat pump is 12, according to the specs (under the specified conditions - most notably the ambient temperature is higher than the pool temperature).
