DEYE 16KW READINGS OUT BY 1 DIGIT

I Just purchased and installed a DEYE 16Kw single phase inverter.

I discovered that  on the inverter the grid/ct watts and load watts would be eg. 6000W but on the DEYE app and Solarman app it only reports 600W

I'm also running the DEYE  home asssitant integration and it reports the same , out by one digit using the wifi dongle with local connection on LAN.

Would this be a  firmware issue on the inverter/dongle??

 

Unfortunately  I cannot try the rs485 port at this stage

 

Has anyone else experienced this?

@Deondti,

Your HA is getting it's info from the dongle, you will see the same error/reading, that you see on the app. Maybe a Deye F/W upgrade?

If you don't solve this, consider dropping the Deye app, and just install this https://smarthomeintegrations.co.za/product/smartdeyedonglev4/ 

The most difficult part you've already solved....the HA part.

Just follow the SMI's github/youtube video's.

WARNING!!!!, after this, you may become addicted to stats/graphs/animations/automations etc 😃

I have a 16kw Deye @Deondti , absolutely love it, the thing is a beast. 

Agree 100% with Sidewinder, the dongle from smarthomeintegrations is the way to go. 

You can either use the one without his firmware and load firmware on using Slipx06's ESPhome code. 

Or you can use his one with his firmware on it which is a bit easier to setup, I made video's on both options some time ago.

Either way much easier than trying to go down the RS485 board method which is notoriously more difficult to get working.

Interesting thing.... today the grid  is off due to "Eskom Maintenance"

My essential load is now pushing the correct values that match the inverter screen exactly.

 

Pondering if there is a trick with the ct ( I cannot think of a scenario that would make sense of the display reading to differ to pushed data) I will play around when grid returns. 

 

I have a ICM unit that I still need to connect,  I will have to make my own rs485 cable since my regular supplier seems to be Mia  and his associate is also not responding.
