Kodak og 5.48 plus

Featured Replies

Hi guys please assist.

I had a normal kodak og5.48.  The lightning struck my hous on friday

So inverter is not working.

I replaced it with a kodak og5.48 plus . Reconfigured the solar pannels to 3 strings of 3.

The volts i measured coming from the pannels was 120v

It is overcast here

As soon as the sun comes out and start charging it blew the fuses 20A on the db board

Sorry if i put it at the wrong topic

Please give solar panel name plate rating. Why did you re-configure the solar array to 3s3p( 3series/3strings parallel). You could have left the solar array as 9S 9 panels in series that would make more sense with a Hv Scc. In 3s3p your starup voltage would barely be reached (150v). My suggestion 9s(depending on panel specs) higher voltage lower current makes much more sense.

Do NOT do this.  The Kodak OG5.48 Plus has a 145V max SCC.

You ideally should wire these 2S.  Not so easy when you have 9 panels...

Sorry guys my mistake i am thinking of the Max not the plus thanks @Calvinfor pointing it out🫣 @johans9ingnore my post my sincere apologies.

The challenge comes in due to the amount of panels that were catered for serving the standard OG.48 with the higher MPPT input range.

@johans9 you could do 3s2p and bump up your fuses to 30a ( if cable/fuse holders rated same or higher etc. )

That leaves you with 3 spare panels, which you could wire up to a external MPPT SCC to feed your battery.

Had a similar setup previously and added a external MPPT to work around the limitation of the built in MPPT ( also the 145v max range )
