Smart port

Hi @Sam79 I haven't set up my Smart port yet on my Solis S6 6kw Pro Hybrid inverter as I do not yet have enough batteries and panels. My understanding of the Smart port is that:

  1. When battery is full and your critical loads are all taken care off, you have the option to push power via Smart Port excess solar energy to "non-essential" items such as Washing Machine, Dryer or Geyser;

  2. You can also set the option where when battery is at a certain SoC (e.g. 90%+) and you have lots of Solar, then some of that solar power can be set to also run "non-essential" items as so desired until battery level goes below the level you would have set.

See benefits below as per this link. Though its for a 3-phase, the same benefits apply to the Single-phase inverter as well, I believe.

I will try to be Practical by my own example..

What works well for me as that I have the AUX port Wires going to a CBI ASPI Wifi Clever Non load switching Device..

Via Sunsynx Aux Settings, When SOC is 90% and PV PRODUCED is set to eg 2200W, this device activates an indicator light and activates a Tuya Device Status Called Alternative On.

The CBI ASPI Device also has an indicator light Called Mains On . The Tuya Device Status is Called Mains On. (Fed From Escom Grid Connection)

I then have a Tuya Automation Scene (GeyserWise ASPI ON) that Activates my Geyserwise Wifi Keypad to push Expected GeyserTemp to 70 Deg C and Switches Geyser On..

Via Sunsynx Aux Settings, When SOC Drops to 80%, the port Voltage then drops and the Tuya Device Status Called Alternative goes Off.

A 2nd Tuya Automatiom Scene (GeyserWise ASPI OFF) that Sets Geyser Temp back to 50 Deg C and Switches Geyser Power Off

This way I am able to dump backfeed AC to my 2 Geysers on Non Essentials when battery full and PV is generating without ANY Additional AC Wiring to the 2 Geysers..

It can thus also activate any other TUYA Device via the Scene, either Essentials or Non Essentials as it is thus software based.

What is not foolproof is that if the PV Produced is also used internally and then you dont actualy have 2200W of free power to use, but the SOC is still a very good indicator together with Scene Automation and Weather Accessed Algorithm..

With Enough PV in your system you could still even wire the AUX port Directly to a device eg Pool but then it is soley dependant on the port, unless you also have a Contactor on the port

As I am also feediing the grid, I prefer to first Dump my PV power Internally before exporting, a difference of about R1.50 / kw

I am in the process of Getting a larger Inverter to have more PV to Feed and Direct.
