Kodak / Axpert King dreaded "Error 61"

5 kWh Greenrich Li-ion Battery

It might not be Pylontech protocol compatible; it might not even talk RS-485. If you post a link or at least a model number, we can try and figure out what it wants comms wise.

ERROR 61.

This error represents an inverter-battery communication breakdown.

If you have compatible lithium ion batteries, check and make sure the Ethernet cable is intact and works properly.

If you have lead acid or gel or any none communicating or incompatible batteries, change settings 5 in your menu to “AGM” (user defined in some brand inverters).

you should be mindful of your floating voltage, LV Cut off and boost charging voltage.

I think you mean "RJ-45" cable. There is no ethernet here, just cable and connectors that are commonly, but not always, used for ethernet.

What do you do if your Kodak is not giving the LIB option

If it's an Axpert King 1 (Kodak Plus) or an Axpert VM III older model (Kodak OG), then update your removable display firmware to version 02.81. It has a choice of 6 BMS protocols (for 48 V models, two for 24 V models), including LIB and LIC. Only battery type SH (Shoto) is skipped in this display/BMS-interface firmware version for 48 V models. [ Edit: By which I mean, battery type SH appears in the firmware's internal table of valid battery types, but is skipped over when the user would otherwise "land on" this option. ]

If it's another model, then the latest display firmware that suits your model likely has it.

Hi @Coulombthis is very interesting to read. Is it possible to tell if the Shoto setting would use CAN OR RS485? My understanding is that the seplos bms in the shoto batteries are only able to use CAN for comms.

I just had a big explore, and in display firmware 02.81 and 12.21, there is still no support for SH (SHoto) battery type, except as a sort of place-holder. It's still skipped over. Maybe I'll find some really recent display firmware and it has the Shoto support, then I'll be able to answer the question.

So far, only WEC, SOL, LIA (formerly BAK), and the strange battery type 0 protocols use the CAN bus.

Then presumably Shoto support when it comes would have to use the CAN bus.

Thanks @Coulombmuch appreciated.

Yeah I'm hoping so as the bms actually supports the pylontech protocol (as well as others), but as you know the PYL setting forces RS485 on the inverter. I have tried using the RS485 ports on the battery using the PYL setting, but I get error 61 because I'm pretty sure those are only used for daisy-chaining inter-battery comms and not inverter comms. It will be interesting to see how this develops.

Hi all

I have the same issue with Axpert MKS IV. I believe the issue with U2 firmware, I have 22.12 version.
Where could I get the correct firmware to upgrade my inverter?

Thank you! :)

The latest that I know of is 22.20, available in a link from the below post. Take heed of the warnings though.

Thank you, @Coulomb Will check with my seller in case they have some firmware update for that to be 100% sure not to break something :)
