Regarding your municipal meter that keeps tripping.........Keith from Sunsynk in a you tube video explains that there is a minimum consumption setting that can be set in the sunsynk to avoid accidental feedback into the grid which trips some municipal meters.

So for example; if you set that value at 50watt and you are using a minimum of 250w, then you will always pull a steady 50w from municipality, and when there is a sudden change of load on your side you might drop for a split second to only pulling 10watt from municipality, which prevents the meter tripping if it had instead gone to minus 40w with no 50w min setting.

Some issues I have :

  1. Apparently if you put two inverters in parallel the gen input becomes null and void? Can anyone confirm?
  2. If 1. is proved positive, then I need to connect my Gen to the input side of the inverters in order to supply and or charge in case of emergency (Eskom failure and no Solar available). Can I use a change over switch to select between Eskom/Generator on the input side (feed) of the inverter?
  3. My wonderful Ecolec 570 pre-paid keeps tripping. As far as I can gather there is no workaround for this as they weren't designed with feedback in mind. What is my options here? Is there an alternative meter available?

Next...... Panel layout challenges

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have an answer to question No 1 above?

I want to install 2x 8kW Sunsynk inverters in parallel.
Due to limitation on COCT regulations/requirements, I can only install 13.8kVA inverter capacity (limit for 60A single phase connection).
As workaround, I want to register as Off-grid (no limits on inverter or battery) and use generator input to connect Grid when really required.
The rest of the time all loads will be supplied from solar / battery.

Sunsynk did confirm a while ago that a genset does not work with inverters in parallel

This is also very clear in their manual 😎😎😎😎

Thank you. This is then different from the information shared for the Deye inverter here https://diysolarforum.com/threads/how-to-connect-generator-to-2x-deye-8k-inverters-in-parallel.43141/#post-545332
