Think you are correct I read a thread where yesterday where I think@PsyCLown got luxpower and svolt communicating.

So it seems I might have to finally upgrade due to my current inverter dying from a short. Inverter wise am looking at the luxpower SNA5000. Battery wise I've heard good things about the svolt 51.2v 5.4kwh and am deeply considering this. However saw 48v 4.6kwh Dyness on special for around 17k that had distracted me. Svolt has slightly higher kwh Which one would you go for?

So it seems something has happened to the inverter from the short I'm presuming. Battery to loads works fine as does utility to loads however when pv or utility to battery kicks in fault code 8 comes up. This error code is bus high voltage. Then a smell of something burning. So it seems there is a problem with battery charging mechanism.. Huff

Thanks for the info. Makes sense. I see the 100a dc breakers are close to R1k. Is this correct? Are these the only option? The system is a 12v lifepo4 Daly bms and 1200 axpert.

There was a short in one of our ac outlets connected to our inverter which was tripping it. It seems to have melted the fuse holder. Interestingly it did not break the fuse. Anyone know what is going on here? I've sorted out the short. Waiting to find out more before I connect the battery. Don't want to blow the Bms.

@Kalahari Meerkat thanks I did not know that about inverters. Imagining they too will have to change should sodium come into play. Right now need to find out if the 16s svolt can talk to a luxpower SNA5000. Apparently they not acquainted yet.

Any got the above inverter to communicate with the svolt battery? I see luxpower supports quite a few manufacturers but not svolt.

Excuse my ignorance on this one but I'm under the impression sodium batteries will jusy need a adjustable bms and a more recent inverter to change shut off battery voltage? Not much down side except for price at this point? Couple years might be worth it no?

@GMAC Tx been looking at these and Shelly for when I upgraded. Currently running home assistant and there is some sweet automations you can setup. Currently use home assistant switches on my phone to control my inverter. Real pleasure as with a small system, you gotta take control quite a bit.

I noticed that the battery was around 40% state of charge when the fridge tripped the inverter yesterday. Plugged the fridge back into the inverter yesterday afternoon when battery was fully charged - no issues. Battery seems to be the culprit as suggested. Think I'm leaving the fridge off the inverter for time being. Thanks @TaliaB @Scorp007 @stefan44 @eugenedp

@Scorp007 Thanks I'm going to give that a try. It's strange because SA hasn't got any readings for loads above 700w. And battery level didn't dip too low to cutoff. However perhaps these spikes were too quick for SA to record. As I image they would be over the 1k mark either way.

So I've had a full circle solar 1kw inverter (axpert VM 1000) for over a year now. Had no problems with it and been great so far until yesterday. The system is most of the time around 400w - 600w load. Mainly 400w. Our new fridge has been on the inverter for 6.months. It draws 200w or so when on, however for 1 or 2 seconds when the compression kicks in and shoots up. The inverter normally beeps for one or two seconds then goes back to normal. I'm understanding is the inverter has an allowable temporary increase in load to cater for this type of situation. So this has been working fine now the whole time until yesterday. The fridge is now causing the inverter to trip and the lcd screen just flashes until I unplug the fridge. The fridge works fine on the mains so I. Thinking the problem is on the inverter side not the fridge. (I was hoping fridge :() So my question I guess is the inverter not handling the spikes even though it's within the invert spike range? The surge according to the data she is 2000va. The fridge cycles several times a day so the inverter would spike that same amount. Perhaps these inverters are built for spikes several times a day even within its. Spike range.

@JayMardern thanks. Am leaning towards the luxpower. Spend a bit extra for piece of mind. Did a bit of digging on conderenergy, it's a rebrand from a Chinese manufacturer. Not the best components obviously for that price.

Looking for recommendations on a mid range 5kw to 6kw 48v inverter. Deye / sunsynk are out of our budget atm. We have solar assistant setup which has been working great so wifi enable inverters not critical unless it's got better choices and options than SA. Our battery upgrade will most likely be 15cell or 16cell Svolt battery. A nice upgrade from my diy 6 cell lifepo4 Solar array we are thinking 6 panels right now with adding more later on. Would connecting in series be better to keep cable thinkness down? This would increase voltage as far as I remember so ideally an inverter would handle 300dc? Are there drawbacks here such has higher inverter costs for higher solar dc input? We currently have a sunpays (axpert) 1.2kw inverter which has been fine so far (geewiz purchase) . I see Kodak, and a few others are rebranded axperts? Do some rebrands have better functionality than others? Wondering why all the rebrands? Apologies this is turning out to be a bit long. in considering the above what middle of the park inverters have people enjoyed and are decent value for money? Excuse the mistakes in the above. Tx

Thank you. I see they have a sale right now around 17k for the 16 cell. Bit of an ignorant question but why is the 16cell better than the 15? Would the higher voltage still. Work on a 48v inverter?

Hi all So have been persuaded by good reason to upgrade to 48v system. Ideally I am looking for something that communicates with the inverter and is a reputable brand. I remember Hubble being quite talked about a year or two back. Their AM4 looks like a good option. Are there any other manufacturers or other brands worth looking at? Inverter choice will most likely be middle of the park Kodak, axpert or similar. Many thanks in advance

Been a while since I was on the forum and into inverter news so am a bit out of touch. We have a small system right now that isn't handling the new loads. Got a custom 12v lifepo4 with old Daly bms on there. Looking for thoughts or recommendations on a 3kw inverter there abouts and 24v lifepo4 battery. We don't have the biggest budget, However if 5kw is only a few extra then can possibly do it.

My current system 1200kva mecer 12v lifepo4 is too small due to increased loads. Next step up in affordibilty is a 24v system. Read a bit about salt batteries coming to consumer market in next 3-5yrs(could be wrong) Ideally I'd like lifepo4 but consider the salt batteries are coming to market I have been thinking of buying lead acid batteries as they are significantly cheaper. Hopefully by the time they die, salt batteries are on the market and a lot cheaper than lifepo4. Am I wrong here? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the info. Pitty it uses the cloud. Would of preferred something local. We have 60 amps here. 30 for the main house and 30 for the cottage (our airbnb). In saying that it would be nice to see how much each dwelling uses.

Good point! I had not thought about it. @system32 I see the Shelley EM has alot of sensors exposed in HA which seems great. I have seen a CBI (HTTPS://CBI-LOWVOLTAGE.CO.ZA/ASC). This one works with Google I believe. Is there a way to find out if HA would pick up the sensors
