Opinions: Key differences between prebuild vs diy battery working with a all-in-one inverter
Thanks for the info. I would like to go this route as to save on money. I am looking at upgrading 12v to 24v EVE cells from altergrid.com I will also need to upgrade my inverter. What are your thoughts on best/easiest bms and inverter to work together. I was looking at Kodak as they seem more affordable than deye/sunsynk. Although I hear sunsynk are great. Thanks again

That's great. Roughly speaking. Would establishing communication between diy packs and inverter be more than a days work? I've heard some of the bms offer blue tooth to phone which seems great. however Would communications directly to inverter be better?

What are some of the key differences considering communication between a pre-built battery such as a Hubble and dyi battery setup with a inverter such as sunsynk/Kodak or similar? Wondering if the savings in DYI is worth forgoing the communication with the inverter

12v lifepo4 readings 1.5yrs later
Hmm ok that equates to 14v. Seems they are 0.6v off then

12v lifepo4 readings 1.5yrs later
Got a 12v lifepo4 setup now about 1.5yrs old. Cycles about 3 times a day depending on eskom mood. Saw its hitting max 13.4 on a full charge. Is this still good in terms of capacity and life expectations?

LifePo4 cells
Thanks. What supplier was it? Was the build worth it in terms of quality and cost savings compared to similar local products?

LifePo4 cells
Nice! Were these cells ordered through the supplier you mentioned on the other thread on Alibaba? What inverter are you currently using?

LifePo4 cells
What do you mean by middle of the range batteries? Are most of the setups by blue nova / Hubble middle range. If so makes me wonder what savings really would be if they used same grade of battery.. .

How to wire a small inverter into our db?
Thanks for the advice. Yes it's meant for small loads only ie router, TV, lights etc and is doing so already for past 16months via extension cords. We just would like to scrap the extension cords now. With regards to the separate earth/leakage. Would this need it's own grounding rod? Or can it use the existing one? Would 2.5mm cable to and back from the inverter be adequate?

How to wire a small inverter into our db?
Mmm. Yeah could have gotten that wrong. But I think the inverter sends out 220v ac not 12v dc Its the mecer mppt 1200

How to wire a small inverter into our db?
So we are trying to incorporate our small system into our new, low usage house. We have the mecer 1200 mppt and would like it to run some plugs and lights in the house(essential loads) . As far as wiring goes, do we use 2.5mm for both the ac in and ac out? The max the inverter can charge our 12v battery is 20A. The max the inverter can exert is 10. In saying this What breakers do we need to install in the db? Do we need say a separate 2pole breaker? Do we need also another earth breaker? We want to have a manual change over in case the inverter needs to be repaired or when we need to plug a hair dryer etc into a plug covered by the inverter. Is there any other things we should have installed?

Viable alternative to R1.5k change over switch?
LOL. Apologies I meant the whole thing you said.

Viable alternative to R1.5k change over switch?
Thanks! sorry still learning a lot here. what did you mean by switching the L and N

Viable alternative to R1.5k change over switch?
We are in the middle of doing a build and our db board and are want to integrate our (smallish) solar system. We want to have the option to change over to eskom incase our inverter packs up. I see they are around 1.5k. Our system is only about 1200w. Is there a more affordable change over option that is 1) sabs complaint 2) fits into a db?

How did you check or measure the capacity? Tx

Have any of your LBSA cells started to swell? Had mine for about a year now and see they are swelling

How to connect to a db
Yes it's exactly this. And how we have it working right now via a few extension cords and floor lamps. I was more wondering how the wiring would be. Perhaps it has its own DB and then wire to certain circuits on the houses db. Just don't know how it would be wired to automatically turn back to eksom on cloudy days etc. The inverter automatically switches over however I want to maintain this functionality when it's wire to the db. If this makes sense. We are currently building a house.

I think there are a few of us!

Avoid LBSA like the plague.

How to connect to a db
Hi, It's the mecer ivr 1200. Mppt with solar input currently on 450w JA panel. Not a ups. It's hooked up a 12v lifepo4 battery Tx

How to connect to a db
Excuse my ignoramxe here. We are busy building a new.small house and would like to have my mecer 1kw run our lights (all. Led) and all plugs in the two bedrooms as these will only. Be used for very light loads (cellphones, laptop etc) How does one do this? Do I tell the electrician to connect the inverter to the lights and plugs breakers? How does one do This? We want the inverter to supplement eskom, meaning the inverter support the loads then automatically switch to eskom when battery or sun finish.
