Solis S6 Pro Hybrid Inverter Review
@AlexTZA Yes, I do have an older model however usually manufacturers keep certain capabilities the same. I would expect that: You could enable more than one mode and the Inverter will apply the appropriate settings based on parameters like SOC, Time, etc. There is a mode that allows you to use your solar as a backup system rather than being effective all the time. Sorry, I could not help you. All the best!

Solis S6 Pro Hybrid Inverter Review
Hi @AlexTZA Regardless of the "Battery Reserve" settings, which is a protection type of setting; each mode has to work within that constraint. I would expect that you can enable both "Self Use" mode and a back-up type of mode. Is there not a "Back-Up" mode as well? If both are enabled, then the Back-Up mode will take over when your SOC (defined in the back-up mode) is reached, switching automatically away from the "Self Use" mode.

Solis S6 Pro Hybrid Inverter Review
Hi @AlexTZA I am not sure if you know that the Solis inverter modes operate together. When you enable the TOU mode you can also enable the back-up mode and set the SOC there. Your battery will not discharge lower than the back-up setting.

Most Efficient Electric Geyser Replacement
Hi Gerhard Yes, I connected my panels directly with the Eco Controller improving RoI and I believe to be more durable. You will be safe with the lower Ohms. My one Geyser is connected with only two 330W panels in parallel; being about 18A and 37V, and works well. The other I connected 2x 390W in series and works just as well.

Solis bad support
Aah, thank you for that @Scorp007. If I understand you correctly, you run on a legacy app from Solis. I must add that using the new version of their app and website works well for me, not knowing what functionality I miss though. The only issue I have is the 5 minute lag time updating the app from the inverter. However, the S6 solves this with a real-time Bluetooth connection. I wish to get my hands on this S6 machine, but I need a Return on Investment on my current Solis Hybrid inverter first 😕

Solis bad support
Hi @Scorp007 My 2c worth on the Solis cloud app. This is a website and refreshing (incl browser cache) may solve issues. Furthermore, the website is updated every 5 minutes and as such the snapshot of data may not always aggregate as expected. My findings is that non-realtime updates are difficult to interpret, however, seems like the new S6 may have resolved this with their real-time bluetooth updates

SOLIS S6 6KW ADVANCED HYBRID GIVEAWAY
Solis inverters are underrated in South Africa. Whatever our neighbours buy we think is the best, hence other brands flourish here. In Australia Solis is the most sought-after inverter. I had a Solis grid-tie inverter and sold that to a friend and years later are happy with that. I replaced that with a Solis hybrid 5G inverter and works perfectly. The transformerless design helps with longitivity and the many added safety features gives peace of mind. Check the specs, this S6 solves all the markets needs.

Thank you for the reply @SEGEN SOLAR Unfortunately I could not follow the links, it prompts for a log in. However, I searched for the text on your website and found grid tied inverters instead. I assume the S6 Hybrid is not here yet: https://www.ginlong.com/energy_storage_inverters8/3_6k_s6_l_za.html

Adding battery but how?
My vote: - You will have 185A instantly (peak) available charge/discharge (37A x 5), ceteris paribus Your inverter(s) may be your limitation. I would only assume the AmpH availability adds up.

Anyone using a Solis?
Hi @LumexClipsal Yes the CT clamp remains as before. Just moved the power source for the meter.

Anyone using a Solis?
@LumexClipsal, Following from our earlier conversation. I rewired my Arcel meter to be powered from the essential load of my inverter instead; and all seems well. I will let you know should there be any misreading. However, after 5 days I believe all is good

Hi Sengen Solar, Nice machine! I assume the major upgrade from the G5 is the higher DC amps. Will the 1P Hybrid S6 be available in South Africa too?
