Sunsynk System Mode Questions?
Hi, The export solar does not need to be ticked to feed back to non essentials as long as grid is present. as long as limit to load is unticked it can feed back to non essentials, in my case, my geyser.

Battery drains slowly after dod
Yeah thats what ive been doing. seems a bit silly though to be able to set a minimum SOC but the inverter will drop it below the so called minimum. if i want 30% SOC at 4am due to loadshedding i currently need to set my SOC at approximately 40% in order to be safe.

Battery drains slowly after dod
But i dont want it to charge from the grid. is it not possible for the inverter to just stop drawing any power from the battery and leaving it at the set SOC and rather switching over completely to grid?

Data logger wifi range
Hi Rogan, Im no expert but Im sure ive read others who have used an extension cable and then plugged the logger into that. I myself just repurposed an old router to use it as an access point in the garage and have not had any issues since.

Battery drains slowly after dod
Hi There, did you ever figure this out? mine does the same thing which is rather annoying as i now need to factor that 1% per hour into my TOU settings to cater for loadshedding. @Leshen are you able to assist with this? surely the once the set SOC is reached the inverter should only draw from grid until a new time slot is reached with lower SOC or until it has charged up past the requisite SOC?

Sunsynk battery to non-critical load
Hi, just to confirm what @Leshen has said above. My set up currently has the geyser on the non essential side. Zero export ticked and limit to load unticked. When the grid is up, I can power my geyser during the day from pv/battery. when the grid is down during loadshedding the geyser will not receive any power. My geyser is on a cbi astute switch which I can schedule to come on during the day to use available pv. What I have done is to set my TOU settings on the inverter with 100% SOC during the time slots that i run my geyser(early morning), This way it will not use any battery for that load and only use grid. during the midday slot the PV will power the geyser unless its not enough and then it blend in some battery power(enough time in the afternoon to recharge back to 100%). This setup has been working well for me besides for some manual adjustments to the timing when loadshedding during my normal geyser time slots...hope this helps.

Recommendation for Electrician in Fourways - JHB
Morning all, does anyone have some good electricians to recommend around the Fourways area in JHB. This is not for a solar install(already installed) but for other niggly jobs like lights, smart switch installation running extra points etc... dealt with a lot of useless guys over the years and would like to find a good electrician nearby who can help when small jobs are required.

Tuya/Yeelight Bulbs with Sonoff push button (Zigbee Bridge) - Help
Hi All, So i am just starting on my 'Smart' adventure and need some help. I've tried searching good old google but cant seem to find my answers. I want to add 3 smart GU10 bulb to my lounge light fittings. The current light fixture is connected to a dimmer 2 gang switch which is based in the dining room. I see Sonoff has a zigbee wireless push button (Zigbee bridge required) which I want to stick onto the wall in the lounge to control the smart bulbs(current switch can just be left on 24/7). I cant seem to find Sonoff GU10 bulbs anywhere so was looking at either the Bneta or the Yeelight bulbs. What i am unsure of is, can the Sonoff button/Zigbee bridge (eWelink) control the Bneta(Smartlife/Tuya) or Yeelight bulbs? I cant go the Home Assistant route yet due to 1. lack of sufficient knowledge and 2. lack of budget or availability of RPi so was hoping that I could still have the bulbs and the button talk to each other and automate scenes somehow? any other suggestions? I find it very frustrating that the various products all require their own different apps and will hopefully look into the HA route in the future (once I learn more about how it all works and how to set it up). If any experts out there could assist to get me started on my automation journey that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Help on Gas geyser suppliers
Hi @Scra. congrats on your gas geyser install. I am considering doing something similar but thinking about connecting the gas geyser in line with my existing electric geyser. Did you get rid of the electric geyser completely? My thinking here is that i can user solar to heat up the geyser during the day for our evening showers and use gas to heat up for our early morning shower when there is no solar. my understanding is that the gas geyser reads the temp of the incming water and will only light the burner if its below the set temperature? in this case it shouldnt ignite in the evening (as the electric geyser water is still hot) but will use gas to heat up the water in the mornings? Would like to understand more on this as the geyser is basically the only thing i am still using eskom for. 12kwh out of daily ave of 15kwh...

Back to stage 4 load shedding
thanks for your feedback. I guess each person is in a different circumstance though. I only have a 5kwh battery so i need to ensure i have enough for loadshedding, this coupled with the fact that its quite common for our power to be out for extended time after loadshedding due to their system tripping when power is restored. i thus try to ensure i have a full battery leading into my LS slot in case power doesnt return 2 hours later...

Sunsynk Logger Randomly loses wifi connection
Hi PF's, my data logger just seems to randomly lose connection and show as offline. I thought it may be a weak wifi signal so installed one of those little Huawei range extenders in the garage with a separate SSID and connected the Sunsynk logger to it. Same story. Its just lost connection again. could it be due to interference from the inverter itself? I have also tried using different channels on the wifi config but to no avail. Running an ethernet cable is not an option for me unfortunately. any ideas how to stabilize the connection?

Back to stage 4 load shedding
First bout of LS for me since my install. what a pleasurable weekend not having to worry about losing power 3 times a day. May i ask, what sort of setting changes you guys make to your system once LS is announced? I initially just switched the TOU 'use timer' off in order to preserve my battery but after the first day, I couldnt bare so much wasted PV during the day(Glorious solar weather in JHB) so I ended up just tweaking my TOU to keep 50% SOC at minimum. I would be interested to know what changes the rest of the community make (if any)
