Thank you so much Peter and Robbo. so on this on the report I’m a little concerned about is the Heterotrophic Plate Count? Check the recommended and what was picked up. I’m not sure how to fix that. Still doing research cause the report also says draft for some reason. They should offer some guidance per the diagnosis as well. this is awesome though. Thank you so much

Yes, so having solar forces you to become more power conscious, you will need to move the washing machine, geyser and anything with an element to a time when you can make use of the sun through your panels to run your household. You will start noticing that you monitor usage of your new found freedom very closely. 😁 Geyser, Poolpump, Kettles, Washing machines, tumble dryers, microwave all heavy loads. So consider maybe splitting them into essential and non essential loads. But if I would have a guess you would be fine with the system you proposing without moving these but again each use case is different based on usage 🙏

This system will most certainly get you ‘almost’ off the grid. Just make sure to move ‘workloads’ to the day time so you can use your panels. Also maybe consider a Geyserwise system with a 2kw element and timers for your pool and other lights, Solar geysers have its drawbacks aswell so ensure you do your research - also consider converting all your lights to Led lights as well. You should be fine. Make sure you monitoring your usage - Solar assistant personally is perfect for my use case. Good luck!

So I just went and did my conversion application today, what a nightmare at those offices, anyway I got it done in around 2 hours (the lady helping me took tea when I was next at 9:15am 😜) at a cost of R1250 - so they did mention that it’s the city’s year end next week so systems will be down and it could take up to 21 days for them to come out and convert me. im reading the thread and saw trickle feeding? How and why is this done?

Quick one. Reducing the size (kw) of your element, won’t that mean you would need to run the element for longer to get the water heated to the required temp?

What’s wrong with heating water with your batteries?

So have the exact same situation, I heat my geyser 150l water in the early morning 4-5 with my batteries, I usually end up with around 45% by the time the water gets to 55 degrees and then my timer(Geyserwise) switches the geyser off. By 9am I’m recharging my batteries and by 12 I am on 100% batteries….what’s wrong with situation?

Thanks Robbo and Peter @Peter Topp Thanks for this, really informative although a little over my head sorry. So I’ve got 2x 5050 Eco Jojo tanks that’s full. So I’m guess I will need around 3000 litres to fill my pool as I’m not filling from empty just topping it up. You’ve explained quite nicely but I suspect I need to read up more on this to learn. I know I have the float in the primary Jojo so yes if I use the 3000 litres from the one tank it would need a refill. Let me see how I’m going to conduct the testing you speak of. thanks again

Update and some info. So my borehole has been done, I’m just waiting to the water tests to come back from the lab. The water looks fine and tastes a little like piping or metal can’t explain the taste. So will wait for the lab. Quick Question: if I need to top my pool up, will the booster pump be ok to run for 3-4 hours to fill the pool? I have the 0.75kw booster pump.

Have they included monitoring as yet?

So I changed my thermostat and setup my Geyserwise system (with a geyser blanket) to come on at 4am-6am and then 15:30-17:00. I noticed a few things: Whilst showering the water rapidly decreases temperate on the monitor? Is this because whilst showering the geyser is already filling itself with cold water? Secondly what is the PTC Temp setting? What’s different between this and the temperate on the different blocks?
