Then they changed it. Because prior dual PV was only available on the 8Kv units. Nah I’m suuuuper happy with the Luxpower. Mate of mine has the Sunsync. His app gives continuous issues. Doesn’t connect… then had to reset… to much pain. Luxpower just works 😂

Hi there sorry for the slow response been tied up with work. Sunsync isn’t bad. I know there were some issues with warranties and backup. If you’re budget focussed perhaps consider Luxpower. A bit cheaper and super solid. On the 5Kv units it’s the only unit in its category that allows dual PV connections as in two separate arrays on one inverter. Sunsync only has that from the 8kv and up. Also the app on the Luxpower is way better that Sunsync and a lot more intuitive

I have motion cameras that run on solar 24/7 on the roof looking at the panels. These feed through to my security company.

I run the following and my cost was Just under R160k installed with overspecced wiring and a 30 Page COC 1 x LuxPower 5.1 Kv inverter 2 x Dyness 5 KvH battries 10 x Canadian Solar 545w panels I have been off the grid with this system for just over a month. System was installed and supplied by DigitFMS

Well it’s a big step and you need to get it right. I’ve just gone Solar and let me give you a few bits of insight. As everyone has mentioned you need to work out what your consumption will be and what you will draw, as that will determine your setup requirement and will point you to the cost layout it would require. When I installed I realised that it would cost me more in the long run if I just opted for a battery and an inverter connected to the grid. I have a 3 bedroom home, but I have no stove or geyser. That running in Gas. I do have and 2000w oven, a 1000w microwave and a 2000w air fryer. Apart from that I run a fridge, a TV, coffee machine and I work from home. In my case that’s adds a TV studio with 2 or 3 computers with all kinds of gear. In a daily use scenario I pull around 4 to 6 kV from my system. On a heavy day up to 11kV, and that’s with no stove or geyser connected. I run a 5Kva Lux Power inverter with 2 x 5kv Dyness batteries. That is in the region of R110k without the panels and without installation. I added 10 x 545 Canadian Solar panels and that brought my total to just under R160k installed. That included a 34 page COC for the insurance. in my honest opinion try and bite the bullet and get the panels at the same time. My system has effectively taken me off the grid entirely. I haven’t had Eskom in my house for a month or so. The system is able to generate enough power to run the entire house of solar alone - even on rainy and cloudy days and charge the batteries after an evenings use. My oven is connected to my inverters. We only use it on weekends but we do run the air fryer and the microwave at times in the week. When it’s a sunny day I can run the over for 3 hours at time and my batteries won’t drain at all. Runs entirely off panels. yes you can get away with a basic non PV connected system and it will help with load shedding, but if you truely want to benefit from the investment you will need the PV panel part. Your budget is a tight one which means you would probably only be able to get a 5Kv battery, this is not ideal. I think your budget is a bit low for what you looking at running. Just remember the old saying - cheaper will cost you more in the long run. Good luck with your install. It’s well worth it

Perhaps look at the 545 W Canadian Solar panels. I have an array of 10 split into 2 rows of 5. 5 x Panels on a complete cloudy day give me 1450w minimum. Charges my 2 Dyness batteries in 2 to 3 hours. Even in the rain I get over a 1000w per row of 5.

What is the budget ? That is the question. Because there are small systems that can do wonders but they are not that cheap. Entry level R5500

I live in East London and have a similar scenario. I get morning sun one side of the house and after noon sun on the other. I have 5 x 545W mono panels on one end and 5 on the other. With the LuxPower 5Kva unit I get about 7 to 9000 kWh from 9 am to 4 pm. Those are my peak hours. But to be honest my 2 x lithium batteries are fully charged by 11am and then I just run on solar all day. Basically off the grid

Just a question, why don’t you opt to add a few Solar panels ? It might be a worthwhile option. I’m on the same inverter and my entire house runs of 5 morning sun and 5 panels afternoon sun. I generate around 7.5 to 10 kW daily and I a don’t even use Eskom

Just a suggestion…. Why don’t you consider a Dyness 5Kva. They hover around 20k and are brilliant. Waaaaay better than Mecer. I’ve gone down the Mecer rabbit hole and it’s nasty

Conder is a pure fongkong brand. It’s the cheapest of cheap. Same level as Mecer. Our China Town sells them and they are dirt cheap. Personally I’d stay away….. as in miles away

So just my take on the matter. I work from home. I run a fully fledged TV studio… 3 Apple Macs, a server, a charge bay for Tv Cameras and batteries, a VHS analogue duplicating bay, a fridge, Microwave , air fryer, 1800w over and a PS5 - obviously not all the high current item at the same time, but the TV studio runs 80% of the time. The tv 3 to 4 hours a day. The fridge is on all the time. Air fryer I run at times 2 to 3 times a week mainly at night. I don’t have a stove or geyser as both are gas. I am off the grid 100%. With a 5Kva LuxPower unit 2 lithium batteries 2 x 5 panel solar strings running on the inverter and its is solid. I generate around 2500 - 3000 W of charge power during the day on 5 panels at a time as I get morning sun on one side of the house and afternoon sun later. I would definitely do LuxPower. But add a few solar panels if you can. 3. Might be a small for the system. If you do 4 you will get at least 2000W of charge on solid sunny day which means your batteries should be charged by 1 each day depending on what sun you get. My system allows me to run my studio and the entire house 100% off solar my entire system cost me R155k and it’s the best investment ever.

Hi There I have an Ecoflow unit and they dont overheat. They are brilliant units. On the River Pro version one I run a complete live stream rig with Computer screen, 2 x cameras, Wifi Router and a video switcher for 5 hours. The cool thing is that with their app you have complete control over the unit, what charge rate you want and what the max charge level you want to charge to. Basically these Mecer units run a a very basic Screen, you cannot interface with the unit at all
