Short (around 100mm) Pylontech battery CAN link communication cables required
Hello everyone. A quick question please. Where can I find Pylontech battery CAN link communication cables? I require these to be around 100mm to 150mm. As an alternative, is there perhaps an existing computer or other comms cable that will do the same function? If you can assist with a supplier I would be eternally greatful. Thank you. Sass

CoCT SSEG Help
Hi Kory If you haven't had any help yet, I would suggest you email Leon Swart at SSEG East, CoCT. Very helpful fella and he's responsible for all registrations. ([email protected]) If you explain your situation to him, he will guide you through the entire process. Also, he will send you examples of the diagram, etc. It is something that you can do yourself with a little effort. As far as the CoC is concerned, may I suggest that you dump your "installer" and find a certfied electrician to do this for you? I am sure there are many here who will gladly assist you Good luck and regards

What are the taxes for LiFePo4 cells
Hi. One thing to be aware of and that is you will not be able to import batteries via airfreight. This class of item is a fire hazard, so it is seafreight only. I will not touch this unless it's a substantial quantity. Full container loads will be worthwhile. Anything less and the cost of shipping skyrockets. Then there's the state of customs at our ocean ports to consider. The risks might outweigh the benefits. Anyway, watching this thread with interest.

Power Forum Store Review Giveaway Loading!
Eish! Some fellas complaining about having to use an installer. I can do this, and have numerous times, yet I'll use an installer, no problem. For two reasons: 1. I'm grateful that Powerforum runs these kind of competitions. So there's no complaining from me. and 2. maybe I learn something new from a different installer. You never know. Knowledge is valuable. Anyway, just saying. Enjoy the weekend!

Axpert (Mecer) 5kW Inverter / Lithium Battery Integration
Interesting note there Chris. Reducing float to 52.5v. I've never heard of that? Perhaps @Coulomb and you can elaborate a bit more? Thanks mates!

How much Weight is needed to hold your Panels in Place on a concrete Roof
I have just one question. Why not drill and use chemical anchors? Those vials with the cement epoxy mixture is waterproof and will not cause structural weakening at all. Bearing in mind we are talking Cape Town here, I would seriously not risk this in an area where we frequently have gusts exceeding 100kPh in any one season, and those aren't even the maximum. If there's a problem with the base, (the roof being thin cast) or lacking reinforcing then the addition of all the extra weight is potentially dangerous as well?

Mecer Inverter not switching on
Hello again @Coulomb Thank you for the assistance. I gave the info as received from the client. However, I visited him today and found the problem. It was unrelated to the PylonTech batteries, and also not related to the inverter. There was a failed breaker between the batteries and the inverter which I duly replaced, and it is working fine now. Thank you once again. Regards

Mecer Inverter not switching on
Hello @Coulomb Please forgive me for jumping in here. Perhaps you can give me some advice. I have a client with an Axpert MKS 5k inverter and two PylonTech US3000C batteries that is solar and grid charged. Today he called me as his power failed. I found that the inverter will not start and suspect the batteries reached the shut off limit of the inverter. If not that, then perhaps the inverter has blown a fuse. On the batteries, the RUN LED flashes as per normal, though there is no indication of the state of charge. Can you please tell me if it is possible that the client has discharged his batteries to the lower limit of the inverter battery setting, and how do I recover from that? Also, if the batteries have been discharged too deeply, is there a method I can use to restart the charging on these batteries? Thank you AS ALWAYS! Regards

Copper busbar
Good mornng I'd find a supplier to cut these to size, (I recommend Non-Ferrous Metals or NFM earlier. Link to follow) and after cutting let someone electroplate these for me. This will probably be the cheapest way. Alternatively to NDM you could also make use of Copalcor. Regards Sass https://nfm.co.za or https://copalcor.co.za

You could try a company called Non-Ferrous Metals. Hope you come right.

Pylontech US3000C Firmware
Hi there. You know, I once had a similar problem with a US3000C. But after trying a lot of fixes, I ended up unplugging all the other batteries, dropped the charging amps to something like 10 Amps (cannot exactly what is was but it was about 50% of the data sheet max charge rate), and then all of a sudden it started charging. I let it finish, and when it was done I reset everything and upped the inverter charge rate once again. Ever since then it has been running flawless. I think if you use multiple PylonTech batteries, as soon as one has a "kink in the cable" for a moment as far as the charge rate is concerned The BMS cuts out and only allow the rest to charge. I'd rather try that if I was in your shoes, than fiddle with firmware. My recommendation is to play around with low amp charge rates and up that bit by bit until you see it's happy. Good luck!

SOL-I-AX-5M Inverter Firmware Upgrade / Update
The company in CT will sell those parts loose. They simply have a minimum charge, which is really not much. May pay me to buy all I can det for the minimum price and check each beforehand to select the ones with identical measurements

SOL-I-AX-5M Inverter Firmware Upgrade / Update
@Coulomb Hmmm, just checked the post. There's no mention of the resistors/values? But what you said makes a lot of sense now. I always suspected the MPPT on this inverter wasn't functioning like it should!

SOL-I-AX-5M Inverter Firmware Upgrade / Update
Aaah, okay. I don't mind replacing those resistors. There is ample space to desolder and resolder based on the photograph. I will take a look and see what's required. You do list the resistor values I presume? Should not have an issue getting those. We have a large electronic component company a few kilometers away. Cheers mate, and thanks for the guidance!

SOL-I-AX-5M Inverter Firmware Upgrade / Update
Good morning @Coulomb No, the voltage differs. Please guide me with the procedure to repair the inverter? I have a lot of expertise working on electronic circuitry and the only thing I really do not like touch are those pesky SMC components. I do not mind attempting a dismantling and repair otherwise. Thank you Sass
