  1. Hi, I have 18 550w panels currently installed. What is the best configuration (busy debating with the installer). Roof Space available is 4 north, 7 west, 7 east. He has currently installed the 3 strings as above but north and east on 1st mppt and west on the 2nd mppt. I have 2 concerns, is the VOC (50 per panel) to high and is the different panel direction not a problem? help pls 8kw Sunsynk is the inverter. I have the option to change panels to 425w trinas which i am leaning to
  2. Thanks and waterproofing? seems they fit flush on the roof
  3. Hi all I just want to check how effective these brackets are. These pics are taken from fb and I have a similar roof so just want to confirm. TIA
  4. Interested to see how this progress, in particular the brackets used to fasten panels.
  5. Spec found, anything converning or odd here? Solarpro-550W-solar-module-catalogue-SP2022-V3.0 (1).pdf
  6. Hi Steve, is option 2 still non compliant if signed off by the municipality? What is the risk of a relay bond failing? Are there other mitigations one could put in place?
  7. Hi, recommended replacement panels for 425w trina panels. Are these ok? Does anyone have the spec sheet? It is 550w panels but not sure of the quality
  8. Hi, how do these slimlines compare to the 7kw bsl mounrack ito comparable cycles?
  9. Hi, just took the leap. 8kw SS, 2 x 5kw BSL, 18 Trina 425 panels installed. R165k. Best references in my search in CT.
  10. That is a really good price (R25k less that the most reasonable quote i have from High Cell Solar). Can a SS inverter take that many kw's? Thanks
  11. Thanks, totally agree. Just received a quote that is more ballpark. 8kw SS, 2 x Bsl powerline 5kw, 14 trina 425w panels, R165k incl COC and SSEG. Master installer on sunsynk website. Busy doing reference checking but anything i should be looking out for?
  12. Hi, I saw Solar Sonic has at 4.20 a watt
  13. https://jcsolarpanels.co.za/shop/solar-power-kits/hybrid-solar-kits/8kw-sunsynk-volta-stage-3-solar-kit/ https://jcsolarpanels.co.za/shop/solar-power-kits/hybrid-solar-kits/8kw-sunsynk-10kwh-solar-kit/ Found these 2 useful indications with 16 panels. Anything from the kits and how does the volta batteries compare?
  14. Hi, any similar suggestions for Cape Town?
  15. Hi guys Not sure if this is allowed (admin can delete or edit if not). Background is that I used to acquaint these forums alot more in the past so got a good sense of some of the reliable installers. Can I ask for some recommendations for a solar installer please in Cape Town. I have done due diligence on some previous installers but they are generally not available in the near future or 2 expensive. I have started looking at others (eg Lunar Solar or FM Solar) but there are so many around at the moment. Given the thread on reducing panel prices, I am hoping to be able to get a system in my price range, someone that will not run away with my deposit, and install reliably. If this is not allowed, what are the other ways to find reliable installer. I will obviously still do some due diligence and will take full responsibility for the decision. Any help would be appreciated. For reference, looking at 8kw SS, 10kw batteries, 6kw panels (more or less).
  16. Hi guys, are these mixed circuits compliant and/or do they need to be separated for solar installation?
  17. Hi, can you upsize the batteries in this UPS to last longer? Looks like 2 12v batteries connected in series with a marking 15X0321. Cps2000va
  18. Hi Paul, perhaps the forum have a list of installers that they can recommend. I would rather wait than have to redo things.
  19. Hi everyone Need to beat loadshedding on my alarm. My current battery keep on needs replacing. Can I upsize the battery to higher ah like 18ah or even 50 ah? Just need a battery to be able to last a while. Alarm system is paradox. Thanks
  20. That would be great JDP
  21. Hi Want to purchase 2 of the following to run a grey water system and also an aquaponics system. do I need a charge controller and or battery to run this or can this be connected directly to solar panels? https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32282612900.html?aff_click_id=0afe97f6baf5468f8cd46792902a472b-1467220924649-07588-UneMJZVf&aff_platform=y
  22. Hi, not yet, but contacted soltra for the specs and they confirmed infini plus
  23. Hi Francois, cant help with the tecnical questions but have found this rebranded infini the cheapest around. http://powermode.co.za/soltra-gtb3000-3kw-hybrid-solar-inverter/?gclid=CjwKEAjwwOvABRC08aedoZ_lnTMSJACs_cbucdTcjkB2HlB2Iib8UbWD4cOx7pAe7MVBgr2nR-rDTBoCnB_w_wcB
  24. Hi, if trojan is r2000 per battery then less than r2 per kwh which is cheaper than eskom over time period guaranteed. then look at the attached which i took from another site (guy name biltong did it) says omnipower even cheaper. if this the case, then payback better. So priority of use solar then batteries then eskom? Thoughts?
