  1. Everyone still happy with their E-towers?
  2. I'm also looking for a similar setup to power a house with a pool and a granny flat. Will most likely be installed outside so looking at IP65 products. Looking at the 10kw Sunsynk with 20kwh batteries undecided. Why did you go for 4x5kwh and not 2x10kwh? Dyness Powerbox Pro 10.24kWh Lithium Battery. I don't see the Sunsynk 10.64 kwh (IP65) being available in South Africa
  3. That looks perfect. Is it currently being used for solar?
  4. Bought a new house with no solar.
  5. Probably even cheaper than the brick idea and definitely no building permission. Need to check if it will satisfy the electrician for a CoC? Not sure what their stance on enclosures are. Need to check with my insurance as well.
  6. Thanks, I have a 5kw Sunsynk at my old house I installed myself a couple of years ago at. Will definitely mke sure the CT is installed and installed correctly. Amazing how many gets installed incorrectly.
  7. Will check with the builder regarding regulations, but from Prof. Google it would seem to fall under minor alterations, thus R357 with an exemption form to the authorities. Paid a builder R5k (labour) to build a 36m wall. Can't imagine building this will be more than R5k for labour , R2400 for bricks, R1k for mortar, R2k for door. It will be 15m from DB to to inverter and 15m from panels to db. If the LOSSES are ok, it might be better seeing that I need to install a gas line in the same vicinity and that could be a problem. Will Get some proper quotes in the new year.
  8. At R12k+ a box versus R10k- for the shed idea, I will have to think about it a bit more. Do you have a link or picture of what you're recommending? Need to check dimensions. Thanks
  9. It will be facing East. 10kw Sunsynk Inverter , 3 x 5 kwh or 2 x 10 kwh Sunsynk Batteries and all the combiners, connectors/ disconnectors etc.
  10. My current solution is in the garage, this in essence will be a garage. Thus Im fine with dust. Will add some fans and vents at the top to extract heat. Seeing that it is less than 5m2, I assume they don't care.
  11. Plan on building something like this using bricks and a garage door against the wall. Thus preventing extensive long cables from PV to inverter and inverter to db.
  12. Hi I want to install my new system outside. Any regulations anyone can share. Should it the enclosure be IP55/IP65? Any suggestions on the enclosure? 1500x1500x300 or maybe 2 smaller ones. Thanks
  13. I see. That gives me some hope. So an installer can still be accredited but not listed. Thought the handful of people listed were my only choices. Thanks!
  14. Thanks, so either their member directory is very outdated or there's very few members? I'm in Randburg, Gauteng.
  15. Hi I recently bought a new house and with the bond requested solar finance. I see one of the terms /conditions are: The supplier who wil instal the solution must be an accredited member of the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association. Does that refer to "members" on Sapvia? The list includes banks, lawyers, wholesalers and from what I can gather commercial installers? Anyone recently went this route and have some guidance? Thanks
  16. @CocoPops Did you manage to resolve the issue?
  17. Did you managed to resolve the issue? A friend is in the same process.
  18. Hi A friend has a 3 phase 12kw Sunsynk with a 10kwh Sunsynk battery and want to add a second battery. He's been told the old battery and new battery isn't compatible? Is this true? Who designs a BMS that isn't backwards compatible? Anyone know of "old" stock? Thanks
  19. I run SA on a piZero W. Connected a usb hub to allow for multiple USB ports.
  20. Cheapest option is pizero w running node-red. Just search the forum for github repository. Easiest is Solarassistant. Monitors Inverter and battery and publishes to mqtt.
  21. I ended up using the Uniross LFP12-7HD on my D5 Evo and my pc UPS.
  22. Managed to do this using tuyapi and tuya-mqtt
  23. I'm pretty sure only a qualified electrician /professional are allowed to work on the db. That said I did mine myself and got an electrician to check it and give me a COC. You can still mount all panels, mount the Inverter and battery. Draw all cables between Inverter and panels. Make sure ac and dc cables are in separate trunking. Make sure on cable sizes between all elements and that they can handle the draw. There's also some rules on conduit size and how many cables are allowed in it. Something about compensation for heat if I remember correctly.
  24. I started with a Sunsynk 5 and the Hubble AM2 and added panels later. 2 years later and I'm still happy. Had some issues with a dead cell in the Hubble, but the entire cell pack were replaced under warranty without problems.
  25. Yes it was a faulty unit that Sunsynk replaced for him.
