  1. Yes I have an email trail confirming this. What you are indicating is one of the issues I raised to them. The data sheet says 150A continuous, but the manual says "same port 100A", which are conflicting statements. I also pointed out that the manual does not point out the voltages for float, empty and shutoff, should a user opt to use voltage mode rather than CAN. Coupled with the published specs on the Segen website, there is even more confusion, and now I have a battery that is a turkey to my customer... I now have to replace the battery with 2x5kW batteries that are capable of supplying 150A to meet the customer's requirements. This shows how false advertising or incorrect data affect installers, customers and their pockets, and the battery manufacturer and distributor distance themselves from claims.
  2. OK, so I got feedback from Hubble, and it is not good. Just for reference, this is what the AM10 specs says, as well as the specs advertised on Segen's website: From Hubble: Rated Capacity (5HR): 200Ah Nominal Voltage: 51.2V Design Capacity: 10KWH Equalized Charge Voltage: 55.2V Max. Continuous Charging Current: 150A Max. Continuous Discharging Current: 150A From Segen: Weight: 99 kg Battery Type: Lithium Ion Nominal Energy: 10240 Wh Depth of discharge: 100.00 % Voltage: 48 V Continuous Discharge Rate (Normal Use): 7680 W Maximum Discharge Rate (5 Minutes): 7680 W Surge Discharge Rate (15 Seconds): 7680 W Maximum Charge Rate (5 Minutes): 7680 W Hubble now have confirmed that the battery cannot supply 150A continuous and can only do 112A (0,75C). Although their datasheet explicitly states MAX CONTINUOUS CURRENT 150A, this is a lie and now I have a customer who cannot use the full potential (or even close) of his backup system. This is false advertising and sell batteries which cannot meet their published specs. Also, Segen states 100% DOD but in the Hubble manual it says only 80% DOD, so which one is it? Be aware.
  3. not true. At 50% the battery is at 52.2V, so at 150A it can still supply 7830W. At 20% (which is the AM10 limit for 80%DOD) it can still supply 7680W at 150A.
  4. It is a 8kw Sunsynk. The charge and discharge limits are set at 150A, and the client never goes over that. It worked fine since its installation in December, but since yesterday, if the utility power is off, and it goes over 100A, then the inverter gives an F56 fault and the system switches off. Another thing, the Sunsynk app is not reporting any faults, zero. The client sent me screenshots of the inverter's fault page, which indicated F56 errors. Would it help if I do a factory reset of the inverter, or is this caused by the Hubble BMS? If I do a factory reset of the inverter, would it reset the data logger also? The inverter is 350km away from me, so I would still want to have the ability to remotely manage it, even when performing a factory reset and re-enter the settings.
  5. Hi, I am now experiencing the same issue with a client's AM10 battery. It is rated for 150A (according to the advertisement and datasheet), but it doesn't even get close to that and shuts down at 117A. The manual and datasheet specs are different. On the datasheet it indicates the max continuous discharge current to be 150A but in the manual it states "Charge/Discharge Current(A) Same Port 100A", so which one is correct? Also, the manual states the operating voltage to be "Operating Voltage Range 40V-58.4V", which sound incorrect. When the battery is at 100% SOC it never goes above 56.9V. So what is the correct voltage operating range? The battery has been working ok since December, but now shuts down when the current goes above 100A (which matches the manual's max discharge current, but not the advertised 150A) This is quite disappointing for a battery that cost in excess of R65k.
  6. Hi, I see our newly municipal SSEG requirement are saying that a Dead Grid Safety Lock is required. My question is why? My Sunsynk inverters have been tested for anti-islanding and functions exactly the same as the safety relay, that it will disconnect from the grid (via an internal contactor) and will not reconnect unless the grid is present again. If the inverter has a test report and has NRS approval (like the Sunsynk has), does it void the need for a dead grid safety lock, as those things are insanely expensive? TIA Jacques
  7. Hi, I am in need of information about the process of obtaining a PV Greencard. I was browsing pvgreencard.co.za today, and part of their website is not working, such as the training and assessment links, their contact page and the email at the top of the website is bouncing. I emailed a few training orgs but I do not get a clear answer on the EXACT requirements, from start to finish. The questions I have: 1. What training courses are needed. 2. After the training has been completed then a 2-day assessment (like a trade test) is done. What happens after that? 3. After the results from the assessment has been published, is a PV Greencard automatically issued or are their additional steps? (one of the training orgs indicated in their email that it happens automatically after completion of the assessment) 4. What qualifications does an installer need to have? (Red Seal, N.Dip, B.Tech, BSc, etc) 5. Is a wireman's license required to be eligible for the PV Greencard? 6. Are there any registrations required at DOL and other organizations and bodies, and if so, how long does it take and what does it cost? (a friend of mine has been waiting almost 1 year now for his wireman's license and its still ongoing) You can see why I am asking this info. All of the training orgs I emailed replied with, what it looks like to me, an email that seems preformatted and which is just forwarded as general information. Thanks in advanced! Jacques
  8. Hi, I have 2 Sunsynk inverters connected in parallel (1 master & 1 slave). Since I am using all of the MPPTs, is it possible to connect microinverters to the AUX port (to add more solar panels or to optimize my existing arrays due to shading) with 2 inverters in parallel, or does the same count as for generators, where you cannot connect it if there are parallel inverters? Also, can microinverters be connected in parallel at the AUX port of a Sunsynk inverters, since most of them are only 600 or 1200W, and the AUX input is capable of handling up to 5000W? Thanks in advance.
  9. During the load shedding this past weeks, my power has mostly been off 08h00-10h30 and in the afternoon either 12h00-14h30 or 14h00-16h30. So this means that they do have shortages during the daytime as well. Residential solar PV may not help after hours, but there is definitely a shortage during sun hours as well.
  10. Our govt is missing a huge opportunity. We are faced with increased load shedding. Normal people, like us, can contribute immensely if they just change policies to make it easy and effortless to register a solar system and allow feedback to the grid. Instead of them spending billions to build new power stations (which they still have to do btw) and waiting 10-15 years for full production, domestic solar systems are already online and ready to feed-in to the grid. There are 1000's of installations that are not permitted to feed-in. Look at the US for instance, they get govt rebate of up to 30% of their cost if they install a system and it is signed off. And then on top of it a lot of power companies give them a 1:1 tariff, meaning whatever they feed-in they can use again. I saw that Dear South Africa sent an email comms which indicates that the govt is exploring urgent ways of easing load shedding. Well, the solution is already at their disposal... Just make it easy for people to register their systems and feed-in and GIVE INCENTIVES to those that do... Our municipality has been "busy" drafting PV regulations for the past 10 years and still nothing on the table, but we have some of the most expensive electricity in the region... Govt policies are full of red tape which put a spanner in the wheels of progress.
  11. On the default display on the HMI, if you go into the solar/turbine icon then you can see the solar production history. You can filter it by day/month.
  12. No, the smaller the depth of discharge is the less "wear" is on the battery. So a 4% cycle will not have a big effect on the normal lifespan of the battery.
  13. Hi. I migrated from the Solarman datalogger to the new Sunsynk datalogger. The stats history are all still on the inverter (Sunsynk 5kW), but the sunsynk dongle only pushed the stats since its installation and not all the available data. Is there a way to push all the available stats from the inverter to the Sunsynk app so I can have my full history?
  14. My inverter panels looks exactly the same as yours for the v1.4 and v1.6 board.
  15. I have the same. I have 2 inverters in parallel. One is a v1.4 board and the other is a v1.6 board. The v1.4 board seems reversed and the v1.6 board looks ok but just wire it according to the connector blocks. I have paralleled my 2 inverters and that is the correct way of doing it. Mine is working just fine as wired according to the connector blocks. Ignore the cable labelling.

  17. I noticed that the Sunsynk App dashboard does not update the Energy produced (daily + total) and shows zero, although I produced solar energy. This is both the browser and mobile app. (attached image) If I click into the plant, then it shows: (attached image) Anyone notices the same on your side? Jacques
  18. My take on it. According to the Sunsynk spec sheet: (quote) Operating Temperature Range (℃) -25~60°C, >45°C Derating So if fitted into a weatherproof enclosure, and operating within the design specification, I can see no reason why the warrantee should not be honored. Also, the Sunsynk is IP65 rated (if all the glands seal properly) so dust and moisture intrusion is not an issue.

  22. Hi, I am looking to buy 3x 5.1kW 48V LBSA rack mounted batteries. Since LBSA does not sell to the public anymore, I have to buy from a reseller. I contacted a few who only have the wall mounted batteries, which will not work for me. Are there any of the resellers on this forum that has their rack mounted batteries in stock? Jacques

    I had the same issue. Also, my system shows partially down at aroind the same time everyday. I reported this is Sunsynk advised me that it is likely a solarman issue.

    Ahh yes. I actually use my batteries for both grid and load side. PHIDZ: Any reason why you only discharge 1000w, 2000w etc at certain times?
