I agree, the battery cable should be sized according to the inverter max discharge rate plus a safety factor. Just a note, fuses are sized to protect the battery cables, not the inverter. To protect the inverter, the correct supply and load C/B needs to be selected. What I find confusing, the Sunsynk/Deye 16kW inverter is capable of delivering 290A continuous, but the installation manual only suggest a 50mm2 cable. According to the datasheet for the battery cable on Segen's website, a 50mm2 cable is only rated up to 276A. The value for a single core 50mm2 copper cable is much lower according to SANS 10142, but that is for copper cable, and not battery/welding cable. So the question, in this sea of information, which is correct? Can we trust Sunsynk/Deye's recommendations?

Hi, I am mainly using Sunsynk inverters, so I am used to their interface, but I would like to explore Deye as well, in particular their remote monitoring & administrating platform (Deye Cloud). I know they had been using solarman for a while, but that only provides monitoring without control. Also it seems like Deye Cloud is pretty new? A question I have, is the Deye capable of being remotely administrated with Deye Cloud, the same that Sunsynk offered when they rolled out the new data logger? If so, does the standard data logger on the Deye work for this functionality, or does the data logger also have to be upgraded, and to which model? Thanks

This is something that seems to become more common. I had been in contact about the same issue, but needless to say, there has been no response from them. I have a client who has the same issue. The datalogger stopped working, with no LEDs lit. This indicates to me that the datalogger is not getting powered. I tested his datalogger by pluggin it into my system, and it works perfectly fine. I tested a brand new datalogger on my client's inverter and get the same result, where the datalogger remains unpowered. Sunsynk was asking really basic questions on their chat and could not provide any info other than discussing it with the "installer", to which I told them "I am the installer and we have an issue with your product". I also contacted Sunsynk through their official contact form, but haven't received any feedback. In the meantime, the client is unhappy that he cannot monitor his inverter, and Sunsynk is doing nothing to provide support to the client/installer. So what is the next step? I don;t know. If Sunsynk just ignores their clients, then I guess it will start to reflect on the brand soon. I am trying to source parts to repair it myself, since Sunsynk is MIA. @Keith Gough is there someone that I can contact in South Africa, a real person, so that I don;t have to rely on unanswered emails or an online chat, where the operator has very little technical knowledge about adressing issues? As per the title, will this installation pass inspection and is it allowed by SANS 10142? This is the workmanship that I am getting at my newly built house... Obviously I am not happy with it.

Hi, then so be it. I would like to see prices for R4.44/W incl VAT new. There is not 1 panel on Powerforum Store that is even close to that price and the only place I see R4.44/W is at wholesale price (Segen Solar) for larger panels. (I do have an account at Segen so I know the wholesale pricing) Also, given the density of the panel, the price per watt differs depending on the size of the panel. A 545W panel has a much lower R/W than a 345W panel. Go to Powerforum Store, check their prices for their different panels and do the math. These panels sold for R6.90/W, so I think my price is not unreasonable at all.

Thanks for the info. I was not aware of the upgrade and their datasheets still reflect 11A per MPPT. Yep, I know the Deye, Sunsynk and Sol-Ark is one and the same inverter, just with different OS's.

Is your MPPTs not clipping your production, since the MPPT for the Deye 5kW is rated at 11A and the Jinco 555W panel specs are 13.33A at STC?

Thanks. My aim is to run my batteries at 40% for all load shedding occurrences up to 2.5hrs in duration. I want to calculate the duration for the (next_end_time) - (next_start_time), and if it is more than 150 minutes, then I want to set my battery SOC to a higher percentage (e.g. 65%). Essentially I do not want to look at the stage of load shedding, rather only how long (duration) the next event will be and then charge the batteries accordingly.

Hi, I would like to write an automation in HA, using YAML, to calculate the time difference (in minutes) for the next load shedding cycle. If the value exceeds 150 minutes (more than 2.5 hours of loadshedding) then I want to change my battery minimum charge level, let's say from 40% to 60%. Once the next load shedding cycle there after is then maybe 150 minutes or less, then I want to change the charge level down to 40% again. I have the "actions" part figured out, but I need to know how to calculate the time difference and use it as a trigger. I already have all the necessary sensors available to obtain the Loadshedding Stages, next load shedding start and finish times, etc. TIA

It seems to be common with multi-inverter setups. Mine does exactly the same where only the master datalogger goes offline periodically for about half a day. I don’t believe that sunsynk is unaware of this, as I sent them multiple emails, with screenshots from my app, proving this. They just stopped responding to me. Also, my generation history is also inaccurate on their app, as my two inverter’s combined generation does not even remotely add up to what the app display. Again Sunsynk ignores this. It’s pathetic the level of service we get from a company selling inverters at premium prices… (Rant off)

Hi, no I have not been able to recover it. I have sent Sunsynk numerous emails (to their CN support email address) and made a number of calls to the UK support centre (you are redirected there when you call the RSA number), but to no avail. I explained the situation to them in detail, via email and phone calls, and eventually I gave up. Sunsynk is still my inverter of choice, and I have installed a number of them and recommend it to everyone, but Sunsynk really need to start focusing on customer service.

2x5kW batteries (Revov) is actually much cheaper than buying a single AM10, and you can do over 8kW with 2xRevov batteries.
