Deye vs Sunsynk - Interface, Price & Support

Featured Replies

Which brand is the preferred one?  Re-branded units are Deye, SunSynk & Fusion

Which one has the best, most updated firmware & interface?

Where is the best place to order with good pricing?

Where will I get good support and after sales service?

So far I have the Deye from Rubicon at a fairly good price & very good technical support

and then the Sunsynk from Ellies an old supplier of mine in Audio/Video

From what I see on the forum most lean towards the Sunsynk. Why?

Sunsynk has the best user interface and technical support. If you are looking for great pricing then contact Steve from the Powerforum Store.

I have a Deye, but I have tried to speak to there Technical support and they first of all do not really understand what you are trying to tell them and where just refering you back to the manual which do not have a solution of what I want to do. In the other hand I have contacted Sunsynk, they where willing to talk to me and I do not even have a Sunsynk, They have a British guy Steve which do all there promotional videos and if not mistaken is one of the founders and director of Sunsynk. I contacted him and he was willing to have a 30 minute personal talk to me. He could understand me. So I have a Deye inverter, but the Sunsynk manual is much better, there user interface is more appealing to me and they seem to be the leader between the two. Sunsynk now is beta testing a Wifi dongle which is not the third party Solarman one that they both use, but this new wifi interface you will be able to setup your inverter remotely. Deye will probably follow soon, but my experience is that Sunsynk is the front runner and as far as the hardware is concerned there is no difference. I can not speak for the Fusion as I have had no experience with them.

Has this view remained the same over the past year? That the Sunsynk has the more westernised firmware and manuals and better local support?

I'm looking at the the 12kw 3 phase versions, there is about a 10% price difference on average, and I'm wondering if paying the premium for the Sunsynk  is really worth it. The price differentials for the 5kw and 8kw are relatively on par.

What would I be sacrificing going for the cheaper Deye unit?

The Sunsynk has a better user interface on the inverter.  Non essential loads that are connected between the grid and the inverter, are shown separately.   The Deye just adds everything together as "load" and you have no idea if that load is going through the inverter.  It goes as far as beeping that you are exceeding the rating, when the load is before the inverter, but it doesn't show up as an alarm or anything, so I just turned the buzzer off.  I won't say the  Sunsynk interface is more westernized, the flow diagram is just more accurate.

The cellphone app and web interface on the DEYE is better in my opinion than that of the Sunsynk.  It gives you more control to customise what you see in the graphs and to hover over the legend to see only that graph dimming the rest.  With the Sunsynk it is basically what you see is what you get.

The Sunsynk allows you to change settings from remote, which is really important if you are going to use it.  This alone may justify the price difference.

Update:  I requested remote access on my Deye, got approved, and now both are similar in that respect.

Main difference then is local support for Sunsynk vs going through supplier for Deye.

A Sunsynk has local support. If this thing breaks you will be dealing with Sunsynk directly in Randburg. If a Deye inverter breaks down you left to supply chain between here, China & a 3rd party supplier in between.

That can be very frustrating. Choose wisely folks.

The machine is identical on the inside. On software/ Firmware level there are differences. Actually in terms of making the interface more simplistic on my opinion Sunsynk can do even more to make the user experience more western. But give them time, eventually they will get there. Otherwise both of them are very solid work horses. I'd opt for local support & repair centre tho. Just my preference.
