October 30, 20214 yr Good Day All I have a recently installed Mecer 5kva inverter with 3kva lithium battery. I noticed a 60 error fault, did some research and realized the inverter and been setup up to run parallel. Instead of contacting the supplier and listening to the little voice in my head. I decided to Google and I located a thread, the thread mentioned changing setting 28 to SnG on the menu. I did not find that exact setting and used S1G, turned on power, heard a pop, smelt a burnt smell and the batter is also in alarm mode. My question, will it be possible to repair the inverter? Or have I maybe damaged the battery. I'm not even sure what I did. Anyway your input and feedback is appreciated.

However looking at @Coulomb post here: It sounds like SnG mode disables the e60 protection. If it still does it, then yes you probably fried some of the "battery" internals too (ie. went through the inverter into the battery) 10 hours ago, Curt12345 said: I'm not even sure what I did If I had to guess, I would say you probably wired your inverter "output" to the grid power. It had nothing to do with Parallel or not. It just so happened that setting SnG just disabled the Inverter's protection against wiring your grid to output. So in short, your wiring was/is wrong. It's actually SIG (letter capital I, as opposed to numeral 1). Can you confirm wiring utility to AC-out instead of AC-in?
November 1, 20214 yr Author Hi Guys Thanks for the feedback. I have managed to book the unit in for repair. A few transistors were blown in the inverter. Definately disabled the protection with that setting change. I had an eelctrician wire the unit for me, we definately had the AC input and AC output wired correctly. We are not using solar, so purely mains to recharge the battery for now. I think the issue is after reading your advise, we have a seperate ciruit to power select plugs, but it is wired incorrectly. That circuit is getting AC from utility as well, which is causing the AC to travel up into the AC out of the inverter. I could be wrong but i will ask the electrician to check.
November 1, 20214 yr Author That would be greatly appreciated. Google delivers little in that area and the manual received with the unit, is very small and the size 8 font doesnt help matters.
November 1, 20214 yr I have one question, you mention a 50A breaker in both input and output AC paths. However, an inverter usually specifies the Amps that it can supply to those loads. Its not 50A, mine is only 20A to backup loads (a few lights, plugs; when escom is down) but where it gets confusing is the "passthrough" current/A, where does that fit into the picture ? Is the inverter able to "pass through" from grid to backup loads as well, hence the 50A or how does it work?
