Posted February 3, 20223 yr Hi all I am new to the form but did get some info from here while doing research for my installation. Got a Deye 8kw inverter and the installer connected my complete db-board to the system. Got no issues at all and like the fact I can still heat water with solar power without installing a solar geyser. My issue: I would like to get some sort of notification when the grid go off. The reason is that my geyser currently run on a Geyserwise timer and switch on and of in the morning afternoon and then the evening. If I am not at home and the solar don't provide enough power to run the house, swimming pool pump and the geyser on a cloudy day and the power go off I will run out of battery very quickly. So therefore the requirement to get a notification when grid go off and then I will install a wifi circuit breaker which I can switch off remotely. Is this a bit of a stretch or is this even possible? Any ideas? surely there is an app out there that can send this notification. Thanks in advance

Is this an App or a smartphone system. its actually run on a raspberry pi or intel nuc which is connected to your inverter, then there is the smartphone app that connects to the pi or nuc over the internet to view the stats, dashboards and alerts.. Setting up monitoring on the Deye is the same or similar to the Sunsynk.. Checkout this link for more info..

It is a blackhole for all your free time (i kid; but not really) Its a centralised system that allows you to manage all your IoT devices in a central place. Everything from smart plugs to smart aircons, switches etc. You can then create automations that say if condition X is met then do the following with these devices and notify these people. Its really quite nifty

Add in Node Red within Home Assistant and you can setup rules and logic to control everything. I also have my whole house on the inverter, so the system can decide when to turn on geysers, the pool pump, the pool heat pump. If the grid fails it can check solar and battery levels and only turn off things if there isnt sufficient solar. The options are endless. It does require patience, youtube and a bit of effort.

And lots of time and trial and error - the payoff is worth it though. I also quite appreciate the HomeAssistant community - people are keen to help and even share their configs for you to use which is not always something that happens in other platforms / systems
February 5, 20223 yr A more direct way would be with a relay, its 230V coil directly connected to the grid input, right after the meter. Wire the geyser feeder line trough its NO 20A contact. This way the geyser would never heath if grid is down, fully automatic, you would not have to do anything.
February 10, 20223 yr You can also use a GSM Commander. It can send you an sms and you can also send sms's with commands to it. This will allow you to switch on and off stuff. It is fitted with a Simcard so doesnt need wifi.
