June 9, 20224 yr Hi, I got solar installed(10 panels 540w) with a 6kw battery and 8kw sunsynk inverter. The most production a day I get is 10kw. I was expecting much more. Certain times of the day my 2 chimneys shadows goes over the panels.

Difficult to guess why you only get 10kwh. How deep is the battery discharged. Do you have switched on load priority. Many settings that can affect it.
June 10, 20224 yr The shading is the first obvious drag on your production, but this time of the year is also the lowest production time because the days are near the shortest in the year. Even so, you could be getting maybe 15-20kWh in a day roundabout now, minus any losses through shading. It would be useful to understand when you are using the most electricity, what time of the day, because you've got a fairly small battery at 6kWh relative to the production capacity of your panels. In summer you could get around 25-30kWh per day if you had place to store it, but if your battery of 6kWh is full and you're not putting on many appliances in the middle of the day, then the panels will simply scale down production even as the sun beats down on them.
June 10, 20224 yr The MPPT will only produce as much much power as demanded (within limits). If your draw is 500W, then thats what you will see as production. The best time to see how the panels are performing is to monitor your system production in the morning as it starts charging the battery. Check how the kW rise as the sun goes higher. Once the batteries are full, put some load on the system between 10 and 13:00, i.e. switch on the kettle and/or geyser, i.e. around 5kW load and see if the MPPT ramps up to the same value.

Just add the SOC to the default chart and then maybe the power from the Individual strings and the SOC On Solarman web site >Device>Inverter>Bottom of page, click on parameter and trick PV1 & PV2 Power & SOC and untick the other boxes Then Windows key, shift and S to cut the data and paste it in your reply.

Understood. But if the batteries are fully charged, the remaining enegy from the panels should not scale down but rather be exported back to the grid? Our estate allows selling back to the grid.

Where can I find the solarman website? I only use the Sunsynk website and app.

July 5, 20224 yr If possible please photograph all the panels (at once) during a certain time of the day. Then compare that to your production. I just want to see if there is shading on any of your panels. Shade 1 panel = shade all the panels. If that chimney is blocking 80% of 1 panel, then all the panels will be at 80% in sympathy..

That is technically true... for some MPPTs, and depends on how well the MPPT software has been implemented. Bypass diodes should bypass the shaded section From the research papers I read up, shading causes multiple power peak points on your power curve and some MPPT get stuck on a point and do not track the global maximum power point. Bypass diodes should bypass a shaded panel and the MPPT should deliver power at the lower voltage yielding more power than the 80%. I have found that my Deye performs rather poor with the shading. I still want to test with a victron mppt to see if their MPPT software performs any better
