Luxpower SNA5000WPV inverter - is battery communication cable necessary?

Featured Replies

Good day, I purchased SNA 5000 WPV inverter and want to use it with my LiFePO4 battery. The battery uses BMS manufactured by DALY, 15S/48V configuration controlling charging/discharging of 15 LiFePO4 cells 280Ah. I connected the battery but the inverter does not charge it. Do I have to use communication cable or can the inverter work with my battery without communication cable?

The question might be trivial but here is the context: I had previously a different, 24V inverter that I used with 2 x 12V 200Ah LiFePO4 batteries in series and there was no need for communication cable, all was controlled by battery BMS. So why do I need a communication cable with Luxpower inverter?

I would appreciate your response. Kind regards, Eric

If you have an RJ45 port on your BMS and you know the pinouts for CAN or RS485 comms then you can make up a cable that will connect the appropriate pins to the Inverter
SNA 5000 WPV
Check paragraph 2.3.2 in your Luxpower Manual regarding Lithium Battery setup. You will need to select the correct battery protocol for the battery type. https://luxpowertek.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/SNA5000WPV-UM-210604.pdf
You may have to contact Luxpower to establish which protocol in their options most closely approximates your battery
Here you will find their published battery compatibility list  https://luxpowertek.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Luxpower-compatible-list_20220414.pdf

Else you may have to use what they term "Battery Brand - Standard Battery" (whatever Standard means by their definition) and enter all voltages/Percentages Manually. See LCD setting 3 on page 25 of the manual. Not sure if manual adjustments can be done once a Battery Brand has been selected.

I don't see a "USE" mode for this inverter, but you could of course use the Lead_Acid selection and apply all values manually. Your BMS should be able to control the battery management as it did before.

Many thanks and apologies for late reply. I tested Li-ion settings for Pylon battery (that I know is also 15S) and "Standard" but no luck. So I set at lead acid, set bulk charging to 54V (menu setting #7) and float charging to 50.3V (#8) and... it charges! The app for inverter stopped working though, doesn't show anything ☹️

Have any of you guys connected the Luxpower inverter to a Blue Nova battery. Do I use the RS485 port or the CAN port on the Bluenova and what pin out configuration do I have.

Yes, I was initially given the same guide utilizing the BMAC however, I successfully installed using the guide that I posted.

Good day

Can anyone please help me - I have a Lux 5000 inverter connected to Revov R9 BMS but I get battery communication failure.  I used pins 1 & 2 on Inverter to Pin 2 & 1 on BMS with battery type 20.

Found solution , reseller didn't send me the settings

Lux Power settings

1 x 5.12kWh Akkutech Lithium Battery

Please follow the order from top to bottom, changing option 03 at any time will remove all other settings. Note option 12 is before 11

03 – Lead Acid -> 100ah
06 - 50A for all three settings
07 - 55.4V Bulk volts
08 - 54.4V Float volts
12- 52V Battery volts when to revert back to grid
11- 48V Low DC Cut off Volts)
14- Grid Charge Enable, Time setting P1 Start time 00:00 P1 End time 23:59 (Only activate for grid charge)

Can you repost the guide please. I am having trouble to get the lux communicating with the vlue nova battery

Hi, has anyone used an Ouco UB5000CM battery with Lux SNA inverter and managed to get bms between inverter and battery working correctly? Inverter can see battery percentage, voltage, etc. but does not charge battery and even when mains is on it uses the battery instead of power from mains.

What settings and cable pin-outs did you use?

I have a LuxPower Tek SNA5000 and Dyness BX51100 and am experiencing similar issues. I have also setup my battery as lead acid and would be keen to know if this is okay. and if there is a way i can get around the issue of communication failure between the battery and inverter. When it communicates, the inverter doesn't charge the battery... anyone who can help with this? Thanks

HI Edma, that battery and inverter can work together if the correct settings and cable pin outs are used. You would need to find the correct pin out for Luxpower and Dyness

Hi All. Having the same issue with exactly the same setup.  Any suggestions or fixes? Running it as a lead acid, but that isn't ideal, especially as I made sure both were compatible before I purchased them.
